New to both Everquest and the servers, but I've been enjoying trying out different classes and races thus far. Exploring has been fantastic - trying to avoid maps too much and explore/map on my own to remind me of some old Bard's Tale and D&D games I played a long time ago. Getting lost in Qeynos aqueducts was frustrating but lots of fun. I learned not to pick on giant cubes of goo. I have tried out a character on the red server as I enjoy pvp and am now trying one on the blue to gauge communities. Both have been great so far and have helped by answering some of my questions I have had. I think I may stick with blue since I have seen a lot more people around so far. So far my favorite has been an enchanter and I think I'll stick with her.

I have been reading through the newbie guide (http://wiki.project1999.com/Players:Adventure)on the wiki, but I did have some questions still! The guide suggests collecting bone chips for some early platinum, but what or where is the most effective way to sell these to others? I was fortunate enough to find a staff that sold for 1p, but that was gone pretty quickly buying some spells.

What are some of the more popular low areas and are groups even a thing early on? It would be nice to play with some others that would not mind me asking questions.

What are some of the first dungeons (and levels needed) to explore? I've found the aqueducts so far.

Think that's it for now. Thanks to the welcoming and helpful community thus far!

/shout or /ooc or preferably /auction from time to time

Also since it seems your in the area these quests offer some nice cash at early levels:

Blackburrow and Crushbone come to mind and yes groups are a thing from day one.

Head to Black Burrow adjacent to the Qeynos Hills around level 6, you can level up on the multiple gnolls at the gates then head in to level 15. Pretty popular place, one of my faves in the game.

Good advise on going to Black Burrow. Do the Gnoll Fang quest. It was nerfed awhile back, meaning its not as good as it once was XP wise, but still not shabby. :p

I think then I would head out of that area at 12 and go to like Oasis of Marr probably to level 20. Even could go to Upper Guk at 12ish. Great ZeM there.

Lots of place you can go. So just throw a dart and what it hits go there lol. Welcome Aboard.

Thank you both for the answers and advice. Didn't get to play today, but will take a look at those quests and explore the area around Qeynos some more tomorrow!

I ran into some of the rabid wolves earlier so I have a general idea where they are. And I definitely saw a few gnolls around so I might have even ran by Black Burrow during my exploration.

Killing decaying skelletons is often worth it, even if they are no xp, as they have a disproportionate amount of armour and weapons, which sell for decent money and they are easy kills.

Greater Faydark and Crushbone probably have the largest number of low level players at any given time on blue. It can be hard getting a group there because everything is taken!

I didnt see anyone mention this before but East Commonlands is the games natural Trading HUB. Everyone goes there to buy/sell from other players using /auction and is where you will have the most luck selling your stuff. Unfortunately this is across the continent from where you are but eventually you will be able to travel there. Good Luck!

Thanks for the advice on the trading hub and those areas. I ended up making a gnome to explore that side of things and am better enjoying the different atmosphere and encountering more people (and being incredibly short is fun). Had a couple more questions:

I am nearing level seven and according to the wiki, the next pet spells are available in Highpass Keep. Is there a faster way to get there other than running, and is there any way to increase movement speed? The travel guide mentions teleporting, but from what I've seen in chat people ask for donations/tips for it and I doubt I could afford it. What is a fair tip for the service?

Somebody (sorry, didn't write the name down, but thank you again for answering some of my questions) pointed me toward looking into getting a Stein of Moggok (http://wiki.project1999.com/Stein_of_Moggok) and another stein I cannot recall the name of when I get some of my illusion spells. Think the second was cheap stein or similar. Are there any other items I should be on the look out for, and how do I get the second stein if somebody happens to know what I'm talking about?

I bet someone would be willing to get you your pet spell. A true noob trying to travel to HHP/HHK sounds like a good way to have a bad experience. My faction is hosed else I would.

If you spot me in-game (as Tadhg), shoot me a tell and I'll help you get your spells. Hezron's right, it's pretty dangerous for a true newbie.

As for your questions, SoW makes you run faster (the higher level the caster, the faster you go!), and tips vary between porters. Many players would port you for free at your level/newness.

Camped out at Gfay for the night after running around helping other folks around the continent. Let me know when you'll be online.

Oh wow, thank you so much. Sorry I had made that post shortly before going to spend some time with the fiance. I am actually off the next few days so will probably be playing quite a bit past noon EST, so if you give me a time range you play/are available, I can hop on then. My in game name is Janul.

I will likely be on in 30-45 minutes if that works for you then. Just doing a quick shopping trip with my elderly neighbor when she's ready since I'm not working this morning. So I will hopefully catch you soon.

Yes, he has his next few pet spells so can concentrate on leveling and having fun rather than learning about Kith at night like I did on live.

Yep, thank you all for the help you've provided. A few people showed me around, taught and helped me bind, and helped with some starting money/bags so I didn't have to hit a merchant every few minutes! Still wandering around learning as I go - even started exploring Crushbone(?), the orc stronghold in the north. Enchanter's definitely been my favorite class that I've tried so far.

at lvl12, get dark elf illusion and do stein of moggok quest:
Kiola Nut (purchased on the island of Erollisi in the Ocean of Tears for 2 gold pieces)
Erud's Tonic (NO TRADE item that results from the Erud's Tonic quest)
Honey Jum from Rivervale (droppable item that results from the Honey Jum quest)
Koalindl Fish from the lake in the Temple of Life in Qeynos (NO TRADE item)
