So my brother is level 30 and my SK is level 9. I want to catch up with him asap. My SK is a troll so I get the double whammy of exp penalty. I was thinking of focusing on quest turn ins such as the lightstones in the gypsy camp in NK. Being an evil race, what turn in quests should I be focusing on pre-level 30. I will try to farm pp with my bard to use a power leveler during the levels where turn ins aren't viable. Any additional insight or advice appreciated. Thanks

gnoll fangs in blackburrow are good

you'll need a shared wolf form to turn them in (makes you indifferent to the war guild in qeynos)

if you do enough youll even get positive faction with most of qeynos

Were you not evil, I would have said Goblin Ears in HK seemed like a common choice for 30-ish characters to farm on behalf of their low-level friends and alts. On the other hand, they sell for 30-35pp each, so your brother would have to really like you not to just sell them on...

The wiki (http://wiki.project1999.com/Left_Goblin_Ears) doesn't say that you need good faction, but you're not even going to get FD (can a SK even use FD for hand-ins?) until 30 anyway, so maybe not...

Depends how patient you are. 15, yeah. 18... sure ok. 20, well certainly possible.

If all else fails, you could head for Faydwer and grab a group in the high-ZEM trio of Crushbone, Unrest, then Mistmoore. Selling will be a pain in the backside, but that should be expected for a Troll. Catch a few good groups and it should get you closer to 30 (or at least close enough to head for a more troll-friendly place like Guk) before long.

When you look at the quests with the best exp, it looks a lot like the developers were fans of the good-aligned races.

If you can handle the yellow wisps at level 9, staying in NK until 16ish is a decent option. The lower level ones will start to green out at 14/15 but the stones are still good XP. 16-30 you're really better off just grinding with a good dungeon group unless you want to pay a fortune for goblin ears.

Reroll something with no exp penalty if you really want to play with him. You are playing on hard mode. By the time you get to 30 he'll be 35+ if he plays at all

SK's since they have no PBAOE must be PL'd by a monk or a druid. Monk can beat down the mob and FD off the aggro table and SK finish them off or the Druid can buff PL you and keep you alive while you take on harder mobs. If you had a class that could PBAOE a bard PL would be your best answer.

As far as the other comments here they are pretty on the dot. You are a Hybrid class which is at minimum -40% experience penalty. It is hard mode.

OK, perhaps I will farm wisps for him with my bard and then farm plat for a power level service to get him from 16-30

Actually, the hybrid penalty is not the issue here. We're about to go into Velious in a couple of weeks, which eliminates the hybrid penalties. The other thing it does is removes grouped racial penalties; right now, your SK will slow the entire group's exp-gain by giving you a bigger chunk (168% of a human cleric's share) of the pie, but in early August, that goes away and every race with a racial penalty will fall behind their group-mates. Current grouping rules are designed to keep every group-member levelling at the same speed if they are at the same level, but Velious rules give everyone an equal share of the experience without taking penalties into account. That means your Troll SK will need to kill 6 mobs for every 5 that a Teir'Dal or Human would.

Unless your brother is an Iksar or Troll, expect to find yourself either levelling slower or logging in to solo for a while just to keep up. Even an Ogre will start to pull away in terms of level, albeit not as much. You were level 9, so I'm thinking you should be a low enough level to re-roll without losing too much effort and that would be my suggestion.

He has a VERY good point. Give up playing what you have until like 2 to 3 months AFTER Velious comes out in 1 1/2 months, so at least 4 months from now, or he will NEVER catch up unless you have like 15k laying around to have a Druid, Bard PL him. It is a hard fact you are going to have to face. If the SK is a Troll, Iksar it is NEVER going to happen without a PL. They will have a 20% Racial penalty forever even when the Hybrid penalty drops months from now. :(
