View Full Version : Best way to get a BAR and a HUM together at level 1?
I am trying to recollect waaaay back from when I originally played what the best option is for getting a monk and a shaman together, and I think the only real choice is for one of us to just run to the other, probably dying a lot on the way? We aren't rolling iksars =P
We just started up this weekend so stocking up on all the shaman spells and me running to Qeynos is not an option. I am thinking the best bet is for him to run to Halas and then he will just not have his skills until we get to 10+ and can make the run back to Qeynos together.
Am I forgetting something? Do I have it about right?

Blackburrow. Human spawn in Qeynos, Barbarian spawns in the polar ice caps. Magically they are on opposite sides of this single zone Blackburrow...

Halas and qeynos are super close together. They both have newbie zones connected by blackburrow which is a great 4-15 zone.

You both should be able to easily solo your ways up to 4 or 5 and then duo blackburrow top and split off your separate ways to get your training/spells and the come meet back up in blackburrow to get to like 14? ish
Thanks for the response, both. It looks like I have remembered right. I think we will attempt the run at level 1 and see if we can get through bb and if not, resort to soloing to 4 :) I forgot that it was only a couple zones. I thought it was more like 4-5

You could always just pick up two or three levels on your own. By level four you should be able to meet in Blackburrow and actually hunt there together. Unless you're absolutely determined to meet as level one toons.

Of course they are! Together forever, an EQ (b)romance! :p

Well, technically its a WoW-turned-RL marriage, but yours works, too

That's adorable. Now I want to make you wedding rings (with no stats because I can't enchant metal).

It's cool, our RL rings have no stats either.

Running thru Blackburrow at lvl 1 should be quite an adventure... I don't think there are many people there, so it's unlikely that your path will be clear of gnolls.
It's usually full of people farming gnoll fangs, in my experience. Sometimes no one is on the top level, though.

I'll be raising a monk, so I'll need all sorts of Gnoll parts for the two gear quests in there. Sounds like a fine place to farm until my eyes bleed.
Chai, I just started in Qeynos, so with luck we will meet in Black Burrow this weekend maybe. I am at an awesome level two already...
Awesome! Now, if only we could actually connect to the server...

First, when you go the bar, wear a silk shirt. It helps to be touchable, and silk is warm in the winter and cool in the summer. Then make sure to sport a very light amount of cologne, if any. Strong scents can be an affront to many. Soap and water with a little bit of deodorant is plenty. Flash a lot of cash and be engaging and friendly. If you're going to get a hum at a bar, this is probably the easiest way.

People are nice here, and this game can be very unforgiving. You should beg a few pp from someone and buy the shaman spells that are not available in other places up until level 12.(many can be gotten at cleric or druid guilds in much more awesome places) Then you should bank them anything else you own and run to qeynos naked and bind there, and not go back to halas until you absolutely must. You'll probably die at least once on this run.
Everfrost is seriously terrible and easily one of the worst 3 newb zones in the game. Qeynos and BBurrow are so much better and will have other players to group with.

The biggest issue for a Barbarian Shaman is going to be how isolated Halas is. Unless you can get to the Timorous Deep, the closest port in is via WK (crossing four zone lines) and that will suck even with SoW up.
At first, your best hope may be to do a '/w all blackburrow' and see if you can beg someone to clear the tunnel for you. You might make it through the tunnels with SoW, a good map and a lot of luck. Like others have said, leave Halas behind until much later. Personally, I think there's a point where you might as well just head back into Halas to pick up spells (assuming you don't get a donation of plat or help from a friendly shaman of an evil race) if you don't mind taking a break from grinding every five levels.

Assuming that you're not Twinked, make sure you kick off the http://wiki.project1999.com/Tribunal_Symbol_Quests quest.
If you're going to Qeynos & have to return for spells at 5th anyway, It's not half Bad.
Thanks everyone for the feedback! I am getting close to 5 so will be picking up the spells, and any others I can afford in the next set and banking them. Then hopefully Ionio and i can start doing blackburrow - and no we are not twinked; just started this weekend so we are fresh off the boat!

Message me on Blackhelmet in game and I'll give you a free port. I can get to Qhill zoneline very quickly.
Chaia, I am a few kills away from level 6. I'll see if I can meet you in Blackburrow over the weekend.

That is so nice of you to offer, thank you :) It looks like there is going to be a bit of a BB group going on this weekend though from what Naxy just posted, so I may not need it quite yet.
Cheers!

Haha, I talked to you in game earlier this week! (Tadhg the druid, fyi)
I also have ports...and camo and bind if you want to relocate yourself out of Everfrost so you can stop dying and losing your corpse :P :)

HA you saved my brain the other night. I was soooo frustrated. EP can kiss my kilted arse! Thanks again for your help :D
It sounds like BB is going to be the place to be at 5, so I'll be sticking around there for a while.

Wizards can port to qeynos hills zoneline with Evacuate: West. Much faster than trying to run across west karana. Try and find one for that specific port.

You're welcome!
It might be an option to get a bind in Qeynos for future endeavors, as otherwise you'll be doing CRs from Halas. If you want to venture further out into WK before you hit 14 and get bind affinity, being stuck running from Halas might become an issue.
