is YT combined with leaderboard bad for server population

On its own YT wasnt so bad, but with leaderboards iit makes twinks farm new guys in rags for leaderboard points. Makes people plug more than they would. Gives out the location of where a noob group was xping, where someone got three hitted, blown up by a twink.

I would remove it, would you?

not that hard + even with the grief, people get like 5 levels a day on this server with the group xp bonus

i started playing on red right around the same time jeremy made his leaderboard live, so my first experience without a leaderboard was during this recent downtime.

while the leaderboard was down i noticed people were more willing to fight 1v1, less likely to plug and generally willing to take more risks in pvp.

that being said, since the leaderboard has been back up and active, i noticed pvp has been booming.

from my own experience, there seems to be more pvp while the leaderboard is active than inactive.. this is not scientific fact tho.

in regards to twinks in low lvl zones, i don't think the leaderboard really promotes it in any way. I believe people that twink a toon to stay at lvl 30 in mm and kill people will do it with or without the leaderboard. Nobody looks at the leaderboard and thinks to themselves, wow silvers is really fuckin good at this game... i am sure 95% of the twinks in MM/CB are aware of this.

ps. while the leaderboard was down, twinks were still logging in and killing rags/noobs.

You seriously trying to frame twink vs ungeared as a skill issue?

Youll have to deal with twinks no matter what, but i think surely its an added incentive for people to farm newbs in rags. I know for a fact some guy was in RnF bragging about his 60-0 leaderboard ratio, posting pictures of him looking at cloth pants in loot inventory. Im sure some of these twinks would be in heaven if they could have a leaderboard that tallies the number of times where they were the last people that killed a player before he logged off forever.

It can be bad, depends really. A while back I was feeling a little bitter as many do during the holidays. I knew a lot of people would be on for a few days while on break from school/work for Christmas. I also knew about the leaderboard and was interested in climbing.

It went as follows. I spared them the lord's day, and started my march on Dec 26th, 2014.

So in short, yes, the leaderboard can be bad on occasion, but mostly, it's just for laughs. Especially on Christmas.

A combination of YT and global occ are the biggest contributors to the toxicity of red.

I am definitely a huge supporter of ooc, but it should go unless heavily moderated.

they kind of play hand in hand with one another

leaderboard means plug early

getting YT'd means discussing it in ooc instead of accepting it

and yet pvp will probably fall off for the people who only play for the leaderboard

it's a boring, diluted form of EQ PvP that came to be after PoP, and it got progressively more bastardized over the course of its existence

there's literally nothing classic about it, and it's probably the worst element of the server right now aside from the blue as fuck PnP
