I don't remember how it worked on Classic, but my pet's general responses like, "Taunting Attacker" or "Changing position, Master" all appear under the "Other" chat filter, not the "pet responses" filter.
Also, damage ticks from spells like Poison Bolt appear under the "other" filter, not under the "spells-others" filter.
Can anyone verify this is how it works for them?

I have 5 chat windows on my main characters and even with that it's still kind of annoying how some of the filters work. Unfortunately it's been so long since I played on live that I'm not certain what is working as intended and what's incorrect.
There are definitely a few things that seem to be off, like your aforementioned dot messages.

I've never been able to figure out pet responses.
Annoys the shit out of me.

easiest fix ive found for weeding out messages that dont seem to fall under the sortable filters is to:
1. Create a new chat window
2. Send ALL messages there
3. Redirect specific filters to the windows you want to see them in
4. Minimize the window from step 1. and never have to deal with the messages you havent dedicated to your other windows.
