Anyone use a good mic without a headset attached. I have good speakers and hate wearing headphones while playing. I don't want it to be one that sets on a desk, prefer it to clip to shirt or wear on head.

Would need the mic to have good noise cancellation so you can't hear music/game noise.

That is why I wouldn't get a shitty one and wanted a good recommendation. If you get a good one you wouldn't be able to tell.

You can always tell. Everyone echoes back that just talked in the last 3 seconds thru your speakers to your mic and it's annoying as fuck. People that don't wear headphones shouldn't be allowed to talk. :P

Do you use the uni or omni directional?

I was thinking making a new set up in my theater room and it would be nice to have other stuff going on besides pc as long as interference isn't picked up by mic.

Well believe it or not there is technology out there that allows for this to not happen.

Nice, after looking more into these it looks like I could just attach to my other nice headphones if it didn't workout without a headset.

Going to give these a shot.

You might want to look into http://www.kingston.com/us/hyperx/cloud#h3cl

I hate wearing headsets as well but It feels like you are wearing nothing when you are using them. Plus you can detach the microphone when you aren't using it. Best 60 bucks I ever spent.

my ears get hot if I wear headphones and extended ear bud use makes your inner ear a bit sore

it's uncomfortable. I feel hot just thinking about it, not sexually hot

and as far as using a desktop mic, listen to when people finish speaking and then speak. no feedback, pretty crazy trick I know. I hear that technique could also help a person seem like less of an annoying moron as well

I have these laying around that I used to use for movies/music so I'm going to give them a shot with the modmic. Not meant for gaming so hopefully they aren't too noisy for the mic.

If I wore headphones how the hell would I know when my mom called me for dinner. It's hard enough to hear her in the basement.

i use a mic with directional pickup that clips on my shirt(i tried having one that stands on my desk and i just kept knocking it over) with my speaker/subwoofer setup. and dont have any problem with my mic picking up my speakers. just dont get some cheap piece of shit.

the only time i use a headset is to block out other sounds inside my house when my mom is doing the dishes or using the vacuum.
