RIP gandalf

Visual is correct Lee was personally given Tolkeins blessing to play gandalf if a film should ever be made. Jackson disagreed.

Actors hate to be typecast etc but he made a great villain whatever film he was in.

I use to listen to his Christmas stuff along side Transsiberian Orchestra. Not huge on Christmas, but it made it better~

I don't know, I have a hard time seeing him as Gandalf. He was the perfect Saruman. Both he and Ian McKellen portrayed their characters almost exactly as I envisioned them when I read the books (Ian moreso since the movie's Saruman is partly inaccurate).

He could have pulled it off though had he been given the role. I didn't think Heath Ledger would be a good Joker either but he was great, and he had nowhere near the experience.

I think he could have done a good Sauron too, even if only for voiceovers. I didn't like the higher-pitched, wispy nature of the movie voice but Christopher's would have been perfect.
