The lvl 53 bard spell, Song of Twilight, should have a duration of 5 ticks. Currently the duration is 3 ticks.

From https://web.archive.org/web/20020613081210/http://eqdiva.com/songs.asp?song=63 :

Max Duration: 5 ticks

SoT lasts longer than other bard songs - 5 ticks, not 3.

It’s not at all uncommon a sight to see a bard standing in the middle of a bunch of mesmerized mobs playing a lute while the group picks each one off one at a time. I’ve successfully mesmerized 11 mobs at the same time with a lute equipped

To mez 11 mobs, the duration would need to be at least 5 ticks (it has a 3 second cast).

Song of Twilight: Increased duration. Made less resistible by removing the secondary resist. Allowed it to be cast at any time of day.

http://www.tski.co.jp/baldio/patch/20001115.html

Strange part is spdat lists it as 3 ticks.

Also EQdiva : https://web.archive.org/web/20010422114633/http://www.eqdiva.com/songs.asp?song=57

Max Duration: 3 ticks

Maybe this is a luclin/late velious update and end of kunark bumped it up to 3 ticks.

Interesting. I'm not familiar with eq's client-server model and how spdat factors in, but could it be the case that the server actually determined the duration, while the spdat was simply a client-side value that was superceded by the server's behavior?

archive.org has this same guide in March 2001, actually (archive.org newb here, just started using it today). So here's this same quote from March 2001, 9 months earlier. https://web.archive.org/web/20010304143622/http://www.eqdiva.com/guides/guide1.asp :

I think that guy is referring to Kelin's Lucid Lullaby, which is a PBAOE stringed song that lasts for 1 tick. He says playing a lute while Song of Twilight is a wind song.

Good catch. That makes sense. Even mezzing 11 mobs would be a stretch with a 5 tick duration, but it's completely doable with Kelin's Lucid Lullaby.

Do we have the spdat's archived somewhere? I'd be interested to see it before and after this November 15, 2000 patch.

Doesn't Kelin's Lucid Lullaby max out at about lv30? No way this can be done at higher end game levels.

It also says that Instrument is required to play, which it doesn't.
