Farming Solist's Icy Wand?

So I played a Wizard as my alt back on live and before I rolled him up I made sure I had a Solist's Icy Wand. I farmed up the wand with my main (a Monk) in the basement of Kurn's tower and I honestly don't remember how many mobs I killed down there before one dropped but I do remember that I killed a LOT of those Burynai Excavators.

The wiki is a bit vague on what mobs drop the wand. I see 3 mobs listed, but under the descriptions, the wand is not always on the loot table?

How many Excavators can one expect to kill before seeing one? I read elsewhere that a guy killed 11,000 before one dropped. Really? ouch.

I've looted one off one of the skeletons on the first floor, didn't think the Burynai dropped them?

It is seriously one of the rarest items in the game. Kurn's is cleared non stop 24/7 and even then the wand is still worth 2.5k in a zone for teens. That gives you an idea of how rare it really is.
