My memory is fuzzy but when it says these beads are nerfed 6 months into velious does the nerf change the existing beads or just new drops?

Only new drops.

Those which are obtained in the first 6 months you get to keep.

But on this server, unless you are pressed for bag space, Stalking Probes can be recharged for about 1 platinum. So just get a bag of 6-10 of them for 30-50 charges, and every time you are running low visit a vendor and recharge them for the cost of a single peridot.

In short - Don't worry if you can't get one or don't spend 500k on a set, cause Stalking Probes are just as good just requires more bag space.
