I know, I know. I got help, just started playing and.. already complaining?!

No, I'm not complaining, just a question. From what I've read P1999 will stop at Velious? Is there any chance it will progress? I read somewhere, that another server will go to Luclin and beyond. Is that true? Do I need to wait? Will characters be able to copy over?

I know, I know. It's just that my dream server would go to PoP and stop there. No more. You meet your gods and that's it. :)

Thanks!

This server will stop at Velious but there's more planned on the horizon. Recently it's been spoken about to do a "recycle" server which will follow a classic timeline from classic to Velious.

...and if that doesn't float your boat, there's also been talk of a teams PvP server. If you never tried EQ PvP on live (I never did properly) I'd consider trying the red server here.

If you want to see Luclin and Planes of Power again, there's no plans for it here but there's the PEQ server (gold colored) in the server select if you'd like to try it :)

I am guessing you are from Al'Kabor server? I miss it too.

There is something called Project 2002 that is trying to gain steam. Not my cup of tea due to it being extremely new, using a horrible client, and allows boxing up to 3 characters. But hey, if you want to progress through to PoP and stay there, that's an option.

There is a similar project to 2002 called TAKP (I think it stands for The Al'Kabor Project).

I am originally from Tarew Marr. Never played on emulator servers before. I love original EQ, Kunark is OK (although I spent years and have many happy memories from the excellent Old Sebilis) and Velious is a great expansion. There will be plenty for me to do on P1999 :)

Also, while P99 will (almost certainly) never have Luclin/PoP, the devs have expressed interest in someday creating custom content with a classic flavor. For instance, one of the lead devs mentioned an idea of offering up certain class-defining AA abilities as the reward for a custom epic-like quest.

We won't be seeing any of that for at least a year (and more likely 2-4 years), when Velious and all of the post-Velious patches are done, but it is coming someday.

I'm not in any hurry. I don't have as much time to play as I did in 1999 =p

I believe Nilbog said he lit the AA code on fire. I wouldn't expect to see any of that.

I would love to see tuned pop content with no luclin in between and no plane of knowledge..just more planes to raid with progression...could make the world used by putting entrances near their followers cities.

IE: Plane of War entrance beneath the moat in oggok.

Plane of Disease coinciding with the original plan (the plague in karana) etc...could be fantastic!

We could have our cake AND eat it to

I think Luclin would have been better if instead of using space ships we used something more fantastic, like teleports, to travel there.

Furthermore, it would have been better if instead of having lots of aliens there were actually Norrathian races there, perhaps some that were sent there through magical calamity, or maybe even went there to escape a curse on Norrath. Thinking back I think a good way to explain the capacity to teleport the moon perhaps it was some how colonised by an old civilisation that specialised in teleport technology. I'd suggest the combine empire, which is frequently referred to in the everquest background. Perhaps a isolated enclave of that empire still survives there?

These ideas would have made Luclin feel much more like an everquest expansion instead of having cats flying space ships to the moon.
