Which for ease of solo life? Best endgame?

Best end game? Wizard for sure.

Both struggle getting groups later on - getting to 60 isn't so easy unless you can organize some guild groups etc.

As for solo... you'll need a decent mana pool on both. Wizards can't PL like druids can, if plat is a factor.

as long as the wizard can make plat to handle himself gear and spell wise, its of no concern, no

With Velious ahead I'd go wizard.

I played a Wiz on live servers and soloing sucked because of the cloth armor. One hit and your dead. Druids get more AC on armor plus buffs including SoW but they get less groups at end game. So if you can get a good guild with tanks and healers that know how to play their class having a wiz is fun, if not go druid.

Wizard is the way to go if you are cool with doing quite a bit of sitting. You will drop mobs faster than anyone else and then you will have to sit to meditate.

I've been playing a wizard as my first character and its been a fantastic choice. Can't recommend it enough.

You don't need gear at all really for a long time, can port and travel and bind around no problems. Once you start getting group ports you can start ferrying people for reliable money. You fit into most groups great. You can't solo as good as a Druid but can do it good enough, and quad kiting is fun.

Being able to invis up and get places you need to go is great. You can get on camp lists, port away and do whatever else you want, and when a spot opens up you can pop right back and slot right into the group with ease.

Its also a fairly under played class.

They are pretty similar. Main difference being end-game. Druids become buff/PL/port bots and wizards are highly desired for raid guilds.

Wizard will be more important for Velious DPS. Mobilization is a huge plus, but Wizard and Druid both have mobilization. Druids can do more, sure, but it's a jack-of-all-trades-master-of-none kind of thing where they can heal, but not as well as a Cleric, and they can nuke, but not as well as a Wizard. It's fine for soloing, but you'd want more potency for grouping/raiding.

Wizard will be a bigger grind to 60 for sure. However, if you want to do end game raiding they are much more sought after by guilds than druids. Also, if you care about being somewhat unique there are much less wizards playing that druids.

Question is do you prefer being a PL'er or Chardok Dweller.

Sad but true state of the server

I was thinking about this question a couple of months ago, I went with wizard. On paper it sounded awesome. In practice you only can nuke when the mob's hps<50 so you don't pull aggro. You stand up nuke him once hope you don't get aggro and sit back down. There are times is so boring I take EQ put it on another screen and play another game, and still perform at 100%. Seems like a lot of people here are talking about end-game I don't know anything about that, but what I do know is that if you don't enjoy the journey what's the point of end-game. (Druid was my main in live and it was a lot more enjoyable to be more well rounded) I would put thought into the journey.

Oh, well. That's classic EQ for you. By the way, please do not sit after nuking a raid boss. Also, please quest Concussion. Tyvm.

50%?

Get better tanks. I nuke at 75%, 50% and then every 10%-15% from there until dead. Also, do not sit after doing so. But it requires the tank to have a solid grip on aggro. Which only usually happens when they have mallets or epic.

Not in raids is different unless the tank is paladin or sk. But I assume we are talking raid targets.

Wizards are not for everyone. Most people like to have less downtime and they play necromancer or shaman or the like. Even when soloing a single mob on a wizard, you will kill it faster than pretty much any other class and then have to sit down. It makes the game play seem slower, but in reality your exp over time will not be much different than that of a druid. You need to decide what you want your role to be in a group.

Nuking and sitting in a group is not all a wizard does if played right. Once in a while you find use for your AOEs if with the right types of players. You can help with crowd control by rooting. You can save the tank or healer with your stuns. You can save a group member by pulling aggro on purpose from an add mob and then use your stuns and nukes while not taking damage because you have your damage shield up.

I am still building my wizard up slowly here, but when I played years ago before I joined Project 1999, I used to joke about being an off-tank on my wizard. You will be thanked often by your group if you can play more dynamically, but it is still not for everyone.
