Hey,
I was wondering if anyone has a guide or the know how of the modifications one needs to make to Wine in order to play EQ from it on a Mac? I have downloaded EQ into Wine and have done all the steps mentioned on EQEmulator and the Getting Started on this board, but it still will not play. I have read here that some people had to make modification to Wine, but I cannot find what mods they did.

Thanks in advance,
clayjoe

While I wasn't able to get the game running well enough under Wine, the game runs 99% fine under the latest Parallels Desktop 6 (perfectly except for gamma adjustment - it doesn't work at all.) Your mileage may vary with other virtualization tools (VMWare Fusion, VirtualBox).

Well, you see, I have BootCamp all set up with Windows, and I thought that would work great--but my screen on my MacBook is cracked and cannot be used, so I have to use a 2nd display; this is a problem; because, although I can boot up to the second display easily on Mac OSX(with auto detection or simply pluging in a usb flash drive when my MacBook is shut), I cannot boot up to Windows with the second display. I have tried everything I know, which is limited, to fix that issue. I say all this, because I have Windows XP on my computer but no CD or code to pair with Parallel. I do not want to torrent Window for whatever reason--I do not know the specifics as to why, and I would have to torrent Parallels if I wanted to go that route. But after all that, if anyone knows a way around my Windows-BootCamp-display issues, I would love to go that route.

Thanks for the fast reply,
clayjoe

Sorry to hear that. :(

This thread should have some information for you: http://forums.macnn.com/104/alternative-operating-systems/291840/bootcamp-external-monitor-on-macbook-pro/

Edit: If you still can't for some reason get this working and don't want to spend the money on parallels, you might be willing to coax me into testing it using my virtualbox. :)
