View Full Version : Couple quick enchanter questions

I've been away a while but had a couple questions now that I am about to get back into leveling my enchanter:
1. Do pets now drop items when killed? I seem to remember some time ago they would just keep the item when they were killed. Curious about both animations and charmed pets.
2. Is the enchanter epic MQable? And any idea what that would cost if so?
3. Is 210 cha high enough to take on Howling Stone solo? Or will I have too many charm issues?
Thanks for responses!

Yes, this should be in now.
2. Is the enchanter epic MQable? And any idea what that would cost if so?
No, the enchanter epic is a combine turn-in. The final combine actually combines from three other combine quests, each combining the reward from a series of 4 sub-quests. The only thing you don't have to loot yourself is Cazel's spoon.
3. Is 210 cha high enough to take on Howling Stone solo? Or will I have too many charm issues?
Is that 210 buffed or unbuffed? If you're including the 40 from Adorning Grace or the 50 from Overwhelming Splendor, then you've got between 170 and 180 charisma unbuffed. I would consider changing gear priorities to lower INT and raise CHA above 200 unbuffed. Things like Electrum Star Ruby Rings and Cat Eye Bracers/Necklace are a good start. Also consider Siryn Hair Hood and Robe of the Ishva.

1. Charmed NPCs will drop items given to it while charmed. If you give them the items when uncharmed (in the case of friendly NPCs) it won't drop them yet (I think they're trying to fix this). Also if you happen to charm a Quest NPC, and give it gear and then kill it, Quest NPCs won't drop what you've given them. Because of certain quest exploits.
2. Nothing in the Enchanter Epic is MQable. It is almost all no drop, and stuff you must combine in bags. It isn't too terrible of a quest, there are just 2-3 bad parts. The only trade able piece is from Cazel in Oasis. I had fun doing the quest for my Enchanter here except for Vessel/Verina; Wraith is sort of annoying as well. The rest is just a matter of sitting down and grinding out the pieces. A few camps to spawn mobs to charm and turn in, a few ground spawns to run around and collect, a few mobs to catch up and kill, a few drops from raid targets your average guild will hit from time to time (revs in Hate, Wraith in Fear, Prince in Chardok)... Then just sitting and waiting on Verina/Vessel... /wrists
3. No clue here. Im still not sure how much 200 and 255 CHA difference is. There are several threads on this topic, I may have even started one of my own. I haven't started min/maxing my enchanters stats yet to mess around with this though.

Thanks for the follow up guys. For animations, there is no way to retrieve items it sounds like, is that correct? In Live I thought that was possible, am I remember wrong?
It is a bummer about the Enchanter epic. I play odd hours, and I am not sure I would ever be able to put enough time in to finish it, given how packed the server is on the top end. I guess I should consider joining a guild to help out there, and see what I can do.
I am currently sitting at 55, and trying to get the bravery to try Howling Stones. I am sitting at 210ish CHA buffed, and have been trying to juggle int/mana with HP and Cha.
My current gear is:
Head: Siryn's Hood
Face: Incandescent Mask
Earrings: Electrum Black Sapphire Earrings
Neck: Sarnak Fetish
Robe: Tolapumj's
arms: Gator Scale Sleeves
Feet: Loam Encrusted Boots
Hands: Impskin Glove
Fingers: Fire Wedding Ring/Band of Eternal Flame
Wrists: Golden Chitin Bracer/Loam Encrusted Bracer
Waist: Giant Reminder's String
Shoulders: Embroidered Black cape
Back: Loam Encrusted
Pants: Drake Scale Leggings
Primary: Rod of Insidious Glamour
Secondary: Rokyl's Crystal
Range: Ceremonial Dagger.
Wasn't sure what I should swap out, as I don't want to be too squishy, and I don't have a ton of plat to spend at the moment. If anyone is feeling any recommendations, I'd gladly look at them. I am thinking the easiest swap would be a ring and wrist for JCed cha gear.

A player/group needs to have the 'credit' for killing the charm pet otherwise it will poof without leaving a corpse. Perhaps you could loot a summoned pet corpse if a duelling player killed it (I know some pet/duel exploits were closed fairly recently so maybe not).
An idea me and my druid/enc friends recently considered was whether it is beneficial to charm duration to give the pet equipment with a negative magic resist stat. Anyone know if this helps?

Like I said before, you don't need the INT gear. Replace the Tola robe with Ishva, replace the golden bracer with cat's eye. The HP rings are important, but if you're charming, you might get more mileage out of CHA rings.

Cannot loot the player pet, no.
