View Full Version : Thinking about P1999

Hello everyone,

my wife and I kind of crave a (relatively) original EQ experience and would like to try Project 1999. We do have a couple of questions, if you would.

1. I understand one needs EQ: Titanium, but repurchasing (yes, we both own legal, expensive copies of almost all expansions), seems illogical. Is there a way to use a presently installed copy of EQ with P1999? The other solution posted here (wow, torrential rain outside at the moment) is, for many reasons, impractical.

2. Are there low level people here and there? Do people group? Are there guilds? More importantly, guilds on European time?

Thank you for your time and attention.

P.S.: Is there a Guide Program? :)

Hello,

To answer your questions:

1. No. Titanium is the only ed that works.
2. Yes! Lots and lots of new and returning players are starting up. Lots of groups - EQ was always social. Certain classes are shunned more than others, but don't be afraid to pick what you want. What are your goals in the game?

As for Euro guilds, it is only really Europa - min level 35. There is a big void for Euro levelling guilds. That said, there are other non-Euro guilds with a Euro contingent, and always around 900+ during core Euro hours (evenings - population only increases).

All right, that sounds good. I looked over my options and can't find anything about pms  Will keep looking.

I get groups as a Necromancer, something that I never saw once on live unless it was a raid. Grouping is very alive and well.

Congrats Bindolaf!

I hope you and your wife find the new experience as great as the old.

I would strongly suggest installing malwarebytes (http://malwarebytes.org) before downloading and installing anything that can't be fully trusted off the intrawebz. Make sure you update the definition file, and run a full scan after installing EQ to be extra safe.

I recommend Virtual Clone Drive for mounting the files vice the one mentioned in the download notes of the titanium files. It used to be decent but is now a beast full of crap and not nearly as good.

Folks I've removed and edited several posts in this thread. Please re-read the announcement at the top of this very forum here:

http://www.project1999.com/forums/showthread.php?t=192188

We do not allow any discussion on the forums regarding methods of illegally obtaining the Titanium software. This includes solicitations of Forum PM's where such information can be found or discussed.

Depending on what area you start in, the newbie zones are either overflowing or completely empty.

I recommend starting at (or moving to as soon as possible) either Freeport or Gfay. Cabilis is a great start area but you wouldn't want to move there as another race.

People definitely group but when leveling up you find a lot of people prefer to solo so it's not like every single person wants to group up.

Guilds exist but they don't really seek out new players. I don't thing I've seen a guild advertise in /ooc for recruiting in the entire time I've been here. There is a guild subforum here though for recruiting.

I have seen hundreds, and that is exactly how half my characters when they were younger joined a guild. Hang out in popular low level zones enough and you will see lots of them.

You can always visit the guild discussion forums here and seek a guild.

I liked how there wasn't too much pressure to guild on p99. Log into WoW with a level 1 and get auto spammed and invited. Annoying.

1. Titanium edition is pretty much the only way to go.

2. There are tons of low levels to mid levels which make a lot of groups very often and tons of guilds out there with leveling on the mind. Not sure how many guilds are Euro but im sure there are somewhere.

I hope you find a place here with us!

Sorry Rogean. I have everything working, will install wineq2 tomorrow and start playing =)
Impressed with what you guys have done here and applaud you, the progression server is not the Everquest I played in 98. I will leave it at that and not bash daybreak, it's just not what a lot of people playing on that server want. I hope one day you guys can partner up and make this much easier for other people to enjoy what Everquest was meant to be.
