Been doing a few levels on my Monk mostly pulling for groups and having a great time, but wondering if someone has some tips on how to deal with casters. A few times I've been caught by a few hags that get me before I can properly time my FD and split. Any cool tricks that I can utilize to minimize deaths like that?

Stay out of LoS as much as possible. If you're pulling a caster, hit it with a range item and immediately turn the corner before it gets a cast off. Use third person to do your splits around corners. Always keep SoW or JBoots on. Always get and maintain resist buffs from priests in your group. Always save Mend for emergencies while pulling OOR of your healer.

I use different gear sets on my Monk depending on what my role is in a group. If I'm chain pulling in a caster heavy zone I like to wear all-around resist gear, focusing mainly on MR, FR, and CR. If I'm dpsing I try to max STR and Haste. If I'm tanking I go all out HP gear.

Get a bard to join your group and make them pull :P

This is a good goal if your planning on raiding. You will keep 1-2 bags with just resist gear in them and switch out depending on the situation. If you don't have them now save up for Tink bags then your heavier resist gear wont affect your ac when your not wearing it. What race are you? Iksar get a really nice range slot item with resists called Stone of Morid(sp?)

Thank you guys for the replies. I can't really afford too much resist gear at the moment, but the line of sight tip was helpful. I always thought that casters could nuke you even behind walls and such, but I think now from what I can see that this only happens if they begin their cast while you're in sight.
I'm a human btw.. of course :)

In my experience on this server thus far, LoS has zero effect on NPCs. The spell will still hit. I've experienced it myself, and I've seen it happen to others. I first witnessed it while I was farming in Dalnir.
Best advice I can give to you is to watch the NPC/chat box. If it starts casting, wait for the spell to finish, hit you (or get resisted), then flop on the ground. In the best scenario, you aren't pulling casters, but that's rarely the case. Also, utilize sneak pulling. I had forgotten about this until yesterday when someone reminded me of it.
Feign Death, hit Sneak, as they are all walking away (or if all but 1 are walking away), stand up and used a ranged attack. If you are successfully sneaking, you should only pull the one mob. The others will continue to walk away, and you'll have you single mob.

Most monk's neglect resists when they're infinitely more important then Strength. If you're Iksar Stone of Morid is your friend. MR bracers are dirt cheap and so is white gold necklace. You can get froglok king crown for 1k, which you can make in an hour or so in HHK. Large Soiled Bag is really good for monks, to store some of this stuff in btw.

Breaking LOS won't prevent a spell from landing, but it will prevent new spells from being cast unless you're outdoors.

Exactly. If you toss a ranged item and immediately duck around the corner you can prevent that first cast from taking place to begin with. The outdoors part is tricky, however. Although there my be some outdoors models that won't block LoS like small trees or rocks, walls will still work as a barrier between you and the mob. Zones like CB, KC, CoM are considered outdoors but are filled with LoS blocking walls.

Then I misunderstood the statement being made. In that case, yes. Apologies.
