ok, im just responding to some TS3 chat I heard once....people using loopholes to be a dick and gain pvp advantage is part of the fun in this game and it is classic but people trading AoN's around so whole raids are in skelly form is just bad taste. it looks bad, its weak. Don't suppose AoN's could just be made No drop until until targeting rings are put up.

im just looking for discussion here. I don't wana hear any "poor mans is QQing cuase he doesn't have an AoN" ur right, don't even have one on EQ live cuase I just don't care!

won't hapen, servers classic, or is it? either way, even with assists and such as more aons drop its just going to get worse. wait til golems drop aons, and half a raid on each side has them. Right now some pvp encounters involve sharing an aon, so if someone zones they lose the buff, or if they get pelled they cant click it again. One guild with ~15 aon's on a bunch of rogues/wizards/monks etc can do some massive hurt. aon clicky is #1 for any class, monks have epic or robe clicky, but grim aura does not stack.

monk epic + aon + spyglass + jboots = 4 clickies to keep pell bombs(honestly, mostly pumices or 1 wand click at bay, because 3+ people pumicing at same time, or wanding or an enchanter recant/stripping while 1-2 pumice assists the monk will lose some buffs, all depends on how quick he is to get to click clackin back.

rogue = grim aura + spyglass + jboots at best, again jboots not always going to be an option cuz sow > jboots for pvp and if your smart u bury it. spyglass is also extremely annoying due to the zoom in effect, so if you don't get pelled, jousting a backstab or monk tstaff hit is harder unless you click it off.

tldr; blabla clickies help but not much, aon is king cuz no name shown. target rings would be ideal because you would be able to see a person levi'd and see their position in the sky better. but will never happen unless mid-late velious if enough QQ once 75%+ of server has aon from ez fear raid.

The only thing classic about r99 is that now you have to sit before you camp.

This server was built on level 30 pets doing ~80 dps by exploiting sword of runes.

This server was built on exploiting invis pulling and avoiding actual PvE mechanics entirely.

This server is currently built on multiple free, shared accounts, and easy xp so you can maintain the best buffs in the game at all times.

And don't forget that melees hit 95% of the time instead of around 50%, and that the damage is unmitigated by AC so that anyone that can remember to hit disc before attack can collect YT at least once an hour. Does crippling blow still stun for 1.0 instead of .1 as well?

No nameplate on skeleton existed on live for less than half the time this server has spent plodding through Kunark. Unfortunately, on this server, quite a few people have made deep emotional ties to their gear and "shits classic" has become a battle cry for people who have given over their existence to EQ.

Entire guilds running around during mas PvP in skeleton illusion is unclassic as fuck, anyone saying otherwise never played on a Zek in the classic era.

AoN as currently used on Red is just another case of a classic item being abused which results in massively unclassic gameplay (see: Ivandyr's Hoop, Midnight Mallet, WC cap, Soulfire, Trak Teeth). In this case, the lesser evil is making a minor change to the item itself (making it no drop is probably the best option) rather than allowing a "classic" item to be abused in a manner that makes the gameplay experience wildly unclassic.

AoN should be made no drop and given a 2 second cast time.

Armies of skeletons running around is fucking stupid, period. It just turns mass PvP into an arms race, which requires guilds to abuse AoNs to compete. Much better to simply even the playing field by strictly limiting AoNs to at most a few people on each side. The PvP then becomes much more classic, and neither side has to abuse an unclassic mechanic in order to obtain an advantage.

from having personally spoke to Sirken, the only way to get anything changed.. Or considered for that matter is by presenting something to them that has bipartisan support.

I once proposed to Sirken something along the lines of 1 week MAX for violation and only a guild leader/officer can present it and that I would speak to other leaders about it. He said if I got support from Holocaust leadership it would be the law of the land.

I approached Colgate about it but we never got to conclude the conversation. Think he was occupied.

Point is, the GM's and staff are receptive to feedback from us. Just not in the form of trying to decipher forum quest epic trolling.

Are you new here? things often change slowly on this server but they do get changed if enough people agree to there being a problem.

Like Lite said if enough people agree there is an issue and find a solution a change occurs.

No one will agree to nameplates, no one will agree to removing AONS, that's why making them No Drop seems the best meet in the middle policy.

People keep their hard won(Or bought) AON's and staff has less of a headache over the most RMT'd item.

Rogean doesn't change his stance on things when he gives a definite no, might have a shot at nameplates if Cazic Thule get's revamped till then you're chasing a dream.

A shot at No Drop possibly because it removes the RMT headache for the staff. But I've learned to accept Rogean's NO's and deal with them.

Understandable that you might feel that way, and you might not be wrong.

There are many PVP lovers out there who I believe genuinely enjoyed fighting me, and are sad to see me go. In addition to that, their views and interests are not so different from our own.

My primary intention was that my departure might trigger some dialogue that could lead to long term change. I've gotten some very good feedback from many Empire members and am happy to see that there are many who are willing to sacrifice their loot flow in order to better pvp.

Forever has been the standard in a context where the staff can not properly engage what is good b/c of epic trolling clogging up every thread.

I think you and both know that the final things in place for this to occur are the AoN change and non Rogean manually triggered sim pops.

I do not believe the idea of changing AoN to have name plates is even on the staff's radar, despite the fact that practically everyone that owns an AoN is on board with the change and agrees that it is awful for pvp.

I am pretty certain the staff has no idea that such agreement over that item exists, because all that is presented when a poll comes about is a bunch of epic trolling, even from those that own one.

If you can get a properly formatted petition to Nilbog, which correctly documents that the people on board with this are actual owners, and the reasons why they'd like to see the change. I think we might be surprised at Forever not needing to be the case.

Communities have to be destroyed non stop in order to keep up with the zerg game. That's a fundamental problem, not a kunark or velious problem.

I was for AoN nameplates way before Holocaust was even a thing on this box, and I was one of the few resistance players that owned one.

In the same way that I was campaigning for proper spawn systems when Azrael was farming the server freely.
