Twinking a Caster for early level melee

I'm wanting to start a necromancer, but want to churn through the first 1-12 levels as fast as I can. I don't think a Erudite Necro can do the Crushbone quest and I can't afford PL'ing, but I can afford some gear. I was thinking I could gear for melee and tank/lifetap with my pet for a good bit of this range.

My first thoughts were with these items:
Tolapumj's Robe (36% haste)
FBSS (21% haste), but does it stack?
Smoldering Brand (1hb 9/22 w/ an 11-14 DMG proc that works at level 1)
and then gear some +55 HP rings and such.

What are your thoughts on this strategy and does anyone have better suggestions? I only have about 8k to play with.

Sounds like a very costly way of getting through those levels, a bit fun though. Is it not cheaper to buy a bunch of Deathfist belts to take you to 12, or will you not have enough faction to be able to hand them in?

Worn haste doesn't stack, so skip the FBSS. Those 3 items are relatively cheap.

Tola Robe/Smoldering Brand/55 hp rings will easily get you to 10 or 12. I think I kept a Smoldering Brand around until 20ish because sometimes you need to melee to finish off a mob.

haste robe or any haste item for that matter seems like overkill. I would just go 5/55 rings. Maybe invest in 30 mana 20 hp earrings. Maybe that 55 JC neck too. They can still be useful when you done with your Melle days.

Smoldering brand is a good choice though. I leveled my mage to 12 quickly with it and no haste. I had 5/55 rings but none of the other jewelry I mentioned. I was lightweight twined.. maybe 2k total and it was no problem

Stien of Moggok is cheap too. 10 INT is always nice to have for any INT caster.

Get the Brazier of elemental summoning or whatever its called from upper guk. Summons level 11 or 12 pet at level 1 for any class. Go crazy in a zone that can take you to 11 or 12. (Nro, steamfont, Misty) Pet will chew through almost anything.

Can spend less than that turning in CB belts if you have faction and don't mind a bit of running back and forth :)

CT clerics from Paineel aren't kos in Kaladim iirc, might be worth the OP double checking Canloe to be sure.

Either buy a PL (will be like 2k or something) or just buy a few cheap/high damage weapons (like the Baton of Faith) and your pet will hit for 60.

Give it a Wu's staff and watch it double 47s.

A few people mentioned the CB quest in Kaladim, but as I mentioned, I'm pretty sure I'll be KoS. Maybe wolfform could solve this problem.

I guess I could look into PL, too. I'll check the EC Tunnel forum for that.

Pretty sure any geared 60 druid can get you to almost 20 in hour or so if the right places are uncamped - probably cost you a bit more than 1.5k though.

tola robe + smoldering brand got my necro to level 12 in very short order. Worked great.

OP don't forget that when you buy the items your money won't be lost forever; you can always try liquidate for the same price you paid once you are done with them!

I'm using a Tola Robe and 11 24 staff on my enchanter and it sucks... Melee casters are bad.

Necro can fear/snare and melee though. Also sounds kind of fun, but honestly you would need some sort of huge ATK buff to make it viable. I had used werewolf illusion and haste on my enchanter to melee. Your probably gonna need str gear or some str buffs, basically some stuff to boost your ATK so you don't miss, miss, miss.

As fun as that gear would be, you might be better off using that brazier of summoning, low level turn in's or buying a small PLVL. Gluck to you.
