The thread about learning how to navigate zones without a map (http://www.project1999.com/forums/showthread.php?t=193999) got me thinking about zones that I just intrinsically know at this point.

Does anybody have any stories of times when you got yourself pointed at a zone, hit autorun, and actually made it to the exact ZL you were aiming for?

I'm also curious what your worst experience with autorun is?

I ran straight to Seb gate from EJ once without hitting a tree or recalculating.
I've drown in WK a few times because I refuse to buy an EB item.

For me, I've done the BB druid rings --> Gfay run so many times that I can pretty consistently hit it dead on.

On more than one occasion, I have pointed myself at my destination, hit autorun, tabbed out/went AFK, and then when I got back, I was in the new zone already! I realize this isn't really impressive in the Karanas or EC/WC, but when it happens for some of the other zone lines with little zig-zaggy corridors, it always at least makes me smile.

I'm not entirely proud of this, but also not entirely embarrassed by it either.

I also have these two runs in Gfay down pretty well at this point:

I did it once from the exit tunnel near yeti cave area in DL all the way to the FV tunnel without any adjustments.... once and once only!

This could be like EQ pool. Competitions and stuff. Bind sight to make sure no cheating.

Sadly, can do this in most old world zones that are open and don't have considerable obstructions. When I'm on my lv60 I just aim and hit autorun and minimize the screen until it is obvious I finished zoning. Only obvious since WinEQ resets my mouse to the top left of the screen once I've finished loading. I usually use a tree or other landmark near zone-ins to aim myself.

I feel rather embarrassed by the fact that I always followed the path from BBM to CB. If only I had ever troubled to look at a map...

and ya in classic, following paths + following zone walls was how most people traveled. there wasn't many reliable maps, you couldn't alt+tab, and all zones were new to you. it was hilarious looking back a few years later thinking "damn i looped the entire zone following the left wall when i could have just took the right wall and been there in a minute".

Why do you think alcohol is in this game? It's so that bards can AFK run thru Kithicor from Highpass Hold to West Commons. The beer helps you sway so you can keep moving around those pesky trees while AFK.

as newb on live i tried to find my way from Halas to Freeport. Everyone kept warning me about Kithicor Forest at night.
When i finally made my ways through High Pass and found Kithicor it was in-game night.

I couldn't see anything dangerous, so hit autorun and did some RL chores while keeping an eye on the screen. Only dark and an occasional tree, i finally hit the east zone wall and searched the exit to WC. Never encountered a single undead on the whole run.

On live i turned on autorun after zoning into gfay from butcherblock, then went afk pointed in the direction of Lfay. When i got back i found myself at my bind point with a fallen to death message in my chat box. Only thing I could figure is that i had pointed myself perfectly at a wizard spire so that i ran straight up it and fell off the very top.

I'm now kinda good to get from RV zoneline to DE's ruins.
But not the other way around. I still don't figure out why I get in the N wall and have to follow it W.

But the real question is how many Mackey Dees double filet o fish sandwiches can you devour in this time?

God damn it must feel so good to be great at autorun in addition to sports!

i can do a straight line from qeynos gates to blackburrow. need to turn autorun back on after i zone, of course, but i've got the line down perfectly. just aim yourself to the left of these two particular trees just to the right of the path...

I do this in burning woods at the DL zoneline every time, and I have no idea how because its the smallest ZL ever.
