As my gnome necro I am KoS in the over there and I'm not sure which faction I screwed up...anyone have any idea on a quick way to change that other then killing a bunch of sarnaks

Dalnir, Howling Stones, Karnor's Castle - Those are likely what made you KoS.

There are 3 ways of improving faction

1. Turn in a ton of braids (you would either need to pull the NPC out, Rest the Dead him, then get close enough to open window with braids and then IvU yourself and turn in once he is indifferent).
2. Killing Kunark Dragons (Gore, Fay, Sev, Talendor)
3. Get VP keyed and kill VP Dragons or Wurms/Racnar/Drakes. Or Elven dancers.

Really none of them are all that viable.

HOWEVER! As a gnome necromancer, you can become maximum KoS to the Overthere outpost. Then cast Lich or Call of Bones on yourself for skeleton illusion, this will bring you up to apprehensively allowing you to bank and sell stuff for terrible prices

Thanks for an awesome answer...is it still possible to get the OT teleport hammer with shitty faction?

No. You need to be atleast amiable to do the OT hammer quest. You should be able to do the sarnak war braid quest with skeleton form on though, that should raise your faction. It will take a while.

You can find someone with Puppet Strings to charm the undead foreman, so you can turn in to him; they usually charge around 2K. If you can charm the undead foreman yourself, you may be able to avoid the faction work and the Puppet String nonsense.

Ignore everything but this. And it's not a "may be able". You can avoid all faction work if you can charm him. Charm brings every NPC to Amiable. The skeleton illusion only brings you to apprehensively.

At level 49, you can charm the Foreman with your level 49 Undead Charm, Doing the exact same thing as the Puppet Strings would do, except for free.

There's no reason to get the OT hammer before level 50 anyways because it doesn't proc until then.

Enchanters, Bards and Necromancers never need faction for the hammer, nor should they pay for Puppet String charges. Once they ding 50 they can just charm him with their spells/songs and turn in a Jade.

In summary:

Cast Lich/Call of Bones and use skeleton illusion to buy/bank there
Cast Undead Charm on Foreman and quest your own OT hammer for free.

If you ever end up raiding Veeshan's Peak after clearing trash and some dragons you will become friendly and not need Skeleton illusion in the future.

You can also bank through the wall in Overthere if it comes to it, there's ways around grinding faction for the sake of it. Plus all the vendors in OT are scumbag prices (pay you half, charge you double a standard vendor).

Just a quick add-on question:

I'm an ikky necro, I know I can just charm the Undead Foreman at 50 and get my hammer, I am little befuddled, though, to learn that I'm kos there, as an Iksar. I must be mis-remembering, but I thought darkies were non-kos in OT. If you can only (realistically) increase your faction through the braids, and you need to be non-kos to that, then how do you ever become non-kos? :)

^ a shitload of braids

very likely not worth your time. cabilis is in the center of kunark, go there instead when you need to sell shit (OT vendors are shady as fuck)
