View Full Version : Favorite EQ food & drink items?

I'm curious if anybody out there has any special affinity toward certain food or drink items in the classic EQ world? Maybe you prefer Elven Bread and Bottle of Milk for your Wood Elf, while your Iksar fancies Earthworm Munch and Bloodwater?
For me -- if we're talking lunch -- it just doesn't get much better than the classic Vegetable Soup with a Mammoth Sandwich.
For dinner, you really can't go wrong with Smoked Shark. I like to put an entire Bag of Sea Salt on top before I cook it. I find that it really locks in the flavor.
And nothing does a better job to wash it all down than some crisp, cold, fresh-brewed Karana Brown Tea. The trick is to throw in an Ice of Velious into the jug right after it finishes brewing. Once the ice melts, it really helps to cut into some of the bite of the otherwise bitter Karana Tea Leaves.

If you're going to go on a bit of a binge I've found that veggie trays are friggin awesome. They give you real energy and make you feel good the whole time between real meals :).

In Velious?
Fuzzlecutters Formula 5000 (last 4x Longer than Water Flasks $$$)
Iron Rations (Last an okay amount, nothing baked is worth the effort for minor duration increase)
In PoP though? Once Tradeskills got real?
FOOD:
HP:
Bristlebanes Party Platter - 75 HP/Mana and 10 to all stats (no CHA). This Combine (http://www.eqtraders.com/items/show_item.php?item=8512&menustr=035000000000) (yield 2) requires quite a few dropped pieces / foraged pieces from the Planes. This is 'end-game' food, and no drop. Only really viable for GM Bakers.
Tormentor Stir Fry - 50 HP and 8 to AGI / STA / DEX. This Combine (http://www.eqtraders.com/items/show_item.php?item=6495&menustr=035000000000) (yield 3) requires 1 dropped piece from PoTorment and a subcombine for Fish eggs.
Mana:
Bristlebanes Party Platter - 75 HP/Mana and 10 to all stats (no CHA). This Combine (http://www.eqtraders.com/items/show_item.php?item=8512&menustr=035000000000) (yield 2) requires quite a few dropped pieces / foraged pieces from the Planes. This is 'end-game' food, and no drop. Only really viable for GM Bakers.
Vann Toe Stew -45 Mana and 3 STR. This Combine (http://www.eqtraders.com/items/show_item.php?item=6499&menustr=035000000000) (yield 1) requires 1 dropped piece from the water giants in BoT.
Resists
All Resists:
Bucket of Crab Legs - 40 HP/MANA and 5 SV all. This Combine (http://www.eqtraders.com/items/show_item.php?item=6487&menustr=035000000000) requires 1 dropped piece from regrua (crabs) from PoWater. -- 1 dropped piece is worth 4 food with no fails.
Mephit Meat Pie - 30 HP, 5 STA, and 5 SV all. This Combine (http://www.eqtraders.com/items/show_item.php?item=6483&menustr=035000000000) (yield 2) requires 1 dropped piece from mephits across planar zones.
Boar Chops - 5 SV all. This Combine (http://www.eqtraders.com/items/show_item.php?item=6462&menustr=035000000000) (yield 1) requires 1 dropped piece from Boars in PoTactics.
Holy Cake - 5 SV all. This Combine (http://www.eqtraders.com/items/show_item.php?item=3770&menustr=035000000000) (yield 6) requires 1 dropped piece from Brownies in several Faydwer zones.
Poison / Disease:

DRINK:
HP:
-None-
Mana:
Vile Sarnak Brew - 50 Mana and 10 CR. Dropped in Chardok by a Alchemist's Acolyte (http://www.allakabor.com/smf/index.php?action=eqnpc&id=103201) (an!?)
Resists
All Resists:
Kaladim Constitutional - 5 STA and 5 SV all. This Combine (http://www.eqtraders.com/items/show_item.php?item=4976&menustr=035000000000) (yield 4) requires 2 ground spawns in Kaladim. -- Can set up a mule here to pick up 7 of each ground spawn each cycle. Unsure on respawn time, but its easy to load up on them if you log on every day or when you log on and before you log out each time you check these.
Poison / Disease:
Planar Blood Brew - 3 STA / STR and 10 SV DR/PR. This Combine (http://www.eqtraders.com/items/show_item.php?item=6434&menustr=035000000000) (yield 3) requires 3 dropped pieces, 2 from PoNightmare (slargihlug and mephits) and 1 from CoD (bubonians). -- Honestly this isn't all that worth your time to farm since the above drink is far easier to make in mass... but for min/maxers, it exists.
For totals of having both drink and food for all situations:
Bristlebane Party Platter
Bucket of Crab Legs
Swamp Rat Crunchies
Triloun Tail Soup
Vile Sarnak Brew
Kaladim Constitutional
Planar Blood Brew
Mixing and matching the above you can either gain:
75 extra HP
125 extra Mana
10 SV all
25 SV PR/DR
20 SV CR/FR
Praise PoP in all its glory. So many tasties to obtain!
Please disregard my stupid post :( I didn't read and I can't edit it lol.

Daldaen confirmed too practical.
Bat-wing cruchies are a classic and prolly my favorite as they are the only one I remember from way back.
For drink? Prolly black-burrow swig, b/c I am a good rogue with great hatred for the gnolls and great love for burning rapiers.

I would like to be a grain-free vegetarian, but this is so difficult in modern Norrath. As things are I'm basically forced into "Raw Till 4" veganism with foraged plants, and summoned bread in the evenings. Thank Tunare that the bread is at least made with traditional einkorn wheat which is ofc comparatively low in gluten and other anti-nutrients; but if more nourishing and healthy options are not made available in Velious I will cry.

Dried Froglok Leg!
Pickled Froglok
Catfish Croak Sandwich
And cheese.
If only there were more frog recipes. :(
Sadly, there's no froggie drinks (insert frog in a blender joke here). Water will do.

Bloodwater could be frog blood! You never know...
Catfish Croak Sandwich
I tried to PM you about that Catfish Croak Sandwich, but your PMs seem to be disabled. Is that quest actually working on p99? I may have to try that out some time soon.

Last time I tried, I couldn't get the Thin Sliced Froglok Meat from Klok Ephmir. I don't even know if the quest is "classic." The oldest post on Alla's is from 2001.

I like the pickles Boomba the Big sells. Nothing like chowing down on the preserved remains of a long dead hero for divine insight.

Flasks of Bloodwater. Watered-down sanguine fluid... salivating just thinking about it.
Edible Goop is a true culinary masterpiece as well.

Thick sliced Honey Mush Bread (http://wiki.project1999.com/Honey_Mush_Bread) with some Shrub Lettuce (http://wiki.project1999.com/Shrub_Lettuce) on top of a nice sized Chunk of Meat (http://wiki.project1999.com/Chunk_of_Meat) that's been sprinkled with some Sea Salt. (http://wiki.project1999.com/Bag_of_Sea_Salt)
To wash it all down a Halas Heater (http://wiki.project1999.com/Halas_Heater).

You made me some mint chocolate chip cookies a while back. After eating mint chocolate chip cookies in game, I had to go to the store and buy some mint chocolate chip cookies so I could eat mint chocolate chip cookies in RL while eating mint chocolate chip cookies in game for maximum immersion. This really did happen.

Absolutely winning.
I like the random assortment of foods you get while foraging. Fun to have bags with a bunch of different snacks.

Bladder of Lizard Milk and Earthworm Munch.
I always keep an extra stack for those group members that forget to buy food before adventuring.
