View Full Version : Unable to run to freeport as level 1 iksar; intentional?
So, I made my level 1 iksar necro and tried to run to Freeport the usual way, got sow and tried to zone into overthere from warslik... got the message "you are not experienced enough to enter an inter-planar portal". Ported me back to the city. Some people told me I need to get to level 5 or so first, the issue with this is I wanted to play with my friend at level 1 on a new character. You know, it's fine, but I'm really just wondering if this is intentional or a bug, because it does kinda disrupt my game experience a bit.

Something definitely fishy there.
Are you using EQ Titanium? Or have you just patched the latest files and are using an install from the live servers or something?
Other than that, it is possible (if slightly rare) to be able to find a Dial A Port druid in Field of Bone... how do you plan on buying your spells? :p

dude you are directly avoiding the entire point of this post.
But yeah, OP. something is definitely wrong. Very very few zones are supposed to have level restrictions on them, never mind Warslik's to Overthere.

Well, it was a fresh install on a new computer... was able to get a port. My plan was to buy spells under Freeport but found out I cant, I can train there at the necro trainers tho. so my new plan is to buy spells with a nearby char and have my friend trade them to my iksar
You have to get level 5 first. This was put in to prevent MQ users from rolling new accounts and training zones over and over.

well I got around it, but I can't say im thrilled. if I wasn't able to get a port I probably would have not played

Doesn't sound classic to me... part of the thrill of either escaping to Kunark or getting the boat to TD/BB is part of the classic experience. When was that put in? :(

Turn in some bone chips to Xelha whatever I don't think it takes barely a stack IF even that to get to Apprehensively if you want to buy spells

I have seen this message when trying to zone into Crushbone at lvl 3 and also when porting a lvl 1 to DL.

Abacab. Ha.

don't really like it because it kinda goes against the spirit of classic by adding restrictions to a game based on not having restrictions.
I play iksar a lot and often I like to play with others from level 1, having to get a port kinda ruins the immersion a bit because I had to rely on someone else instead of earning my way off the continent myself. If someone wasn't generous enough to port me for free I would have had to pick a race I didn't really like.
Obviously, it's not the end of the world. I'm not saying this is gamebreaking, I will forget about it. It just kinda rubbed me the wrong way and if I hadn't got a port I really wouldn't have been happy about it. I feel like it kinda screws iksar who want to play with someone else on the mainland.

going to fp to buy spells sounds stupid anyway.
stay local! stay cabillis!

Well if I'm playing with someone else and they don't want to be an iksar I'm not gonna force them, would rather let someone new to the game play what they want. I prefer cabilis and kunark but I'm okay with the mainland too.

Yeah the level restriction thing is new and seems pretty silly. It's definitely not classic and seems like an odd change for a project that is such a stickler about being 'classic'.

I'm confused. Can a lvl 1-4 simply not zone out of their newbie area? I'm sure everywhere you can zone into your starting city, but if you start in gfay, is it impossible to zone into bb/lfay, for instance?
I remember now that I was on my lvl 3 shaman and tried to get away from some mobs by running into guk and it ported me to the guards right outside Grobb.

Wow what the **** this is complete BS. Welcome to CustomQuest. Seriously we already have questionable DLLs in our EQ folder to prevent MQ use and now they are adding in rules like this? How does that make any sense at all?

Flagging/Catching MQ use is not the same as preventing.

so they could improve on the process that they already have in place.... when an account is flagged it gets banned instantly, not when rogean feels like it... not add all these additional BS rules

You needing to hit 5 before leaving > Someone teleport training CoM, Sebilis, Unrest for hours on in completely destroying a zone and harassing folks.
Small price to pay imo.

How long does it take to get level 5? If someone is cool waiting at a zoneline for a mob to pop for 6-8 hours it seems like a small ask to get level 5 on a bard and go nuts with something like this.
Buy up ~30/40 CB belts for 3pp each and you're there. Not hard on an iksar either.

Yeah, but God Damn it Swish, you can't just pick and choose what is classic or not and call the F'ing game "Classic"! :o
It was NOT that way on live! That is like a women hawking sex on the corner and saying it is for Charity, I am not a Whore.

Is this real? You actually can't leave newbie zones at level 1? Saying its easy to get to level 5 is kind of missing the point guys. What nonsense.
