Permanent Black Sky/Purple Sun

I've seen old threads posted about this issue but I still can't seem to fix it. I have a permanently black sky with a purple sun no matter what time of day it is. The fix I've seen involves making sure your Resources file has all the correct items in it, but this could involve a full reinstall which I would like to avoid. Any ideas?

Isn't there a setting in the graphics tab that allows you to adjust the sky? Alt+O and have a look... see if that changes anything.

Sounds like you didn't merge the patch folders with your existing ones.

This will fix most of the sky, but you still won't see rain or snow. You'll need a fresh resources folder to do that.
