New player to Project 1999

Hello all,

I wanted to introduce myself since I just started playing on this server over the weekend.

A bit about me: I started playing everquest a before Velious came out on the 7th Hammer Server. I leveled up a Barbarian warrior to about 30 then quit until PoP when I got 52.

I came back again in 2004 and played on Vazelle where I made a Berserker named Kuato. I was one of the first players on the server to get my Berserker epic (actually a naked Barbarian GM came to help me get it because my friends got death touched) I raided tons of PoP, Omens, GoD content.

I came back a few years ago on a progression server and raided as an Ogre Warrior. I totally forget the name I used it seemed so fast.

Now i'm a level 13 Ogre Warrior here on Project 1999. :) Looking forward to meeting all of you. So far the experience has been great. People have been super friendly, helpful, and groups have been fun. Right now I'm looking to level up, so I can get started raiding again. If you're around my level, want to group, or need a Warrior feel free to PM me ingame @ sneadles or post a reply here. I'm typically will be on ~6PM PST - whenever i should go to bed.

You picked the right class/race combo dude. I'm about ready to start parsing how often during a fight I get stunned from the front and see how much dps/aggro time I lose on mobs.

I know right? I really wanted to make a human or a different race this play through but.....since it appears warriors won't ever get stun immunity here I'll need to continue the trend.

Frontal stun immunity doesn't really make a difference on a warrior. Play whatever you like most.

I used to play EverQuest in 2000-2003, but the PoP expansion totally destroyed the game for me - I loved killing those giants for Dragon rep; and then the new expansion came out and that all ended. I had a bard with the singing sword and as much as I loved playing WoW, it was never a replacement for my bard, which I loved and adored.
Anyway, I'd like to get back into it however I cannot find the Titanium Edition of the game either to buy nor download.
Any advice so I can get started? ps, there is no rush I wont have a pc for a month or so.

Frontal stun immunity doesn't really make a difference on a warrior. Play whatever you like most.

I remember getting chain stunned on my barbarian. Never want to live that experience again. There'd be times id slightly move to the left to line up, get stunned, next you know i'm doing 360s.

You could purchase it on Amazon, but I'd bet you originally bought EverQuest up to Velious... I'd find someone who's savvy with the internet if you're not and see if there's any alternative sites that have it (I don't like Amazon :p)

However you get it, it's EverQuest Titanium you're looking for.

I was up to PoP, and that was the reason I quit - I think in the first two months I got like two or three groups the rest of the time spent LFG.
Someone has sorted me out with Titanium P1999; now I just need a PC. I saw that there was a mac emulator, but I don't think my 2007 mac mini will hack it; it's barely able to run itunes and chrome together let alone an MMO :)
But it wont be long now.

Getting to level 40 on my druid and not having to sit to med!
Exploring Velious for the first time with my guild - much fun to be had.
Starting a bard and learning 4 song twisting.
Getting Positive rep with Ring of Scale and doing a dance around Gorenaire.
Selo's super dooper run speed!
Soloing Mistmore Castle on my bard - and those frickin' see-invis pat mobs GRRR.
Averted a Raid wipe in Vellious killing a Worm for dragon quest armour with bard(me) + wizard + cleric; that was a crazy fight, and we were dead lucky to have just the bare minimum classes to get the worm dead.
Did I mention selos speed? :D

I got Titanium Edition - copied it into (mac) Project 1999\Contents\c_drive\P99
copied the Project 1999 Files (V36) into P99 folder
Edited eqclient.ini and set WindowedMode=TRUE
installed WinEQ2 into Project 1999\Contents\c_drive\WinEQ2
Set up the WinEQ2 profile pointing to P99\eqgame.exe
but every time i try to run "P99\EQGame.exe patchme" it crashes and hangs without any signs of working.

I have a 2007 Mac Mini; 2ghz Intel Core 2 Duo, 2GB 877 DDR2, Intel GMA 950 64 MB

I've installed DirectX10 for windows XP in the Project 1999 WINE thingy, and running DirectX setup tool going to the Direct Draw tab the same thing happens, crash and burn... so it's something D3D related, but it is showing me I have no graphics drivers installed... so trying to download Intel Integrated Drivers, which so far have not worked. "your pc does not meet the minimum requirements" but doesn't say anything more than that.

So the good news is... I got Everquest working after another 5 hours of messing with WineSkin - but there are a few quirks to work out...

Firstly if I run the game windowed mode I just get a pink background with huge white letters and no game.
Secondly, if I run the game in fullscreen mode it does work, including the mouse except for Mouselook which goes insanely crazy.

I downloaded Wineskin Winery and followed the instructions in the below video to create a brand new wrapper with the latest versions of WineSkin.

Installed all the fonts from wineskin-tools-winetricks, changed the MaxCPU=1 flag, changed the Engine to WS9WineCX____ rather than WS9WineCXG____; trial and error really I just tried them one by one until something worked.

I had some issues initially. I installed WinEQ 2 & it works a treat now. Try that maybe?

WinEQ2 is, from what I've read, mainly used for turning off multiple CPUs/Cores and having multiple eqclient.ini profiles - since Wineskin now has its own option for forcing single cores I'm not sure it has further use for me.
From my testing last night, WinEQ2 didn't solve any issues but I'm not against trying it again. But I suspect that finding a more compatible WS9 engine is the way to go.

sixpence: no worries - I'll keep smashing away at it until it works; plus I'm getting a PC in July so it's only temporary :D
Buriedpast: eqlite is for space saving exercise, to remove all the unused graphics and models; the exes and ddls etc will be the same, it's unlikely to solve the directX problems I'm having - but it'll mean less space on my hard drive so I might do that anyway so thanks :D

WinEQ2 is a memory hog so not so hot if you are running a laptop. :(

I eventually got it working - I installed a fresh version of Wineskin set in fullscreen mode. and to fix the mouse there's a setting in winetricks to disable directinput, so I turned that on and it fixed the mouse for fullscreen mode.

Hi! I'm new. (Thought I did begin to try this and I think work/life got in the way years ago now trying again, hope it'll work out this time!) I -believe- I have everything downloaded and setup but I have a stupid question that I must be looking right at the answer and not seeing. When I run the "Launch Titanium" it seems to be working and goes to Login screen I need to fill in the login info. well did that and it's saying DB error invalid password. I don't know maybe it's too soon since setting up the login info? Anyone know how long it takes to peculate through the system?
