View Full Version : This Server Cannot Handle Zerg v Zerg

Capping guild size would work if it were a guildwar server, but in FFA any guild can ally with as many others as they like.

Capping engagement size, or capping guild presence in a zone is...I don't know about this one. It'd be an awkward implementation on our side, but if the players wanted fair fights for dragons, well it's a novel idea to have a 30v30 duel for it. Interested on opinions here.

Because I'm newer, I don't know if the desync issue has been brought up and addressed before, but I'll bring it up to the staff and see if there's anything that can (or can't) be done about it.

Need opinions here - if server cannot handle zerg numbers - great idea from Guide Chroma to let a 30v30 determine who wins the dragon

Yeah don't see it happening. Rog/Nilbog should gather an estimate for hardware upgrade and we donate for it to be upgraded before the ice storm.

This is the perfect time for this to happen, I think we were all looking forward to this massive brawl and it really fell flat, if a hardware solution was proposed and a price determined I'm sure the playerbase could pony up.

just upgrade the servers

if players want mass pvp they should ask how much for the hardware and then donate

Give us a cost number for the hardware upgrades, Aimchat will make it happen

I hope 100v100 PVP doesn't become the norm, but rather just the product of special occasions.

I definitely see 25v25 - 60v60 being the norm, as each team isn't gonna show 100 deep to each target. With many more targets in Velious, and a lot more dynamic added to the equation, smaller fights are sure to break out far more frequently.

However, the server has to be able to handle those massive battles or we are in for some trouble.

Kinda sad when people request implementation of rules to compensate a (perceived) lack of desirability their guild has.

Hope you can work on that, really.

As long as it's not decided by who has more hair. You would never get pixels then.

You do realize it was 5 guilds vs one, right? And we barely had more numbers then you, so yeah, you're still a Zerg.

Funny thing is on a real 'PvP' server this was essentially how things were done. Honor code fighting, you brought a raid size. Usually 30-60 people, and then fought in a neutral zone outside of the raid.

For example if you wanted to fight for Trakanon, you didn't fight in Sebilis where one idiot training could decide the fate of the PvP, you'd fight in EJ Near Trakanon zone.

Or when we used to fight for Plane of Time (before it was instanced) we would fight in the entrance of BoThunder or PoTactics.

If we were fighting over Tunare we always met in Great divide outside of Thurgadin, it was all good PvP and both sides won sometimes.

I think unfortunately, on this server...this would never happen, for a lot of reasons. Primarily because it probably can't be agreed to.

But the idea was, if you are currently able to field the better PvP force on the PvP server, then you deserved the raid. However, over time this broke down when instances became the norm, it didn't really matter...and the pvp servers died.

Lol WTf handholding live server shit were playing on. There were always trains. Seb, TOV, Ssra.

PDM sending rogues into emp chamber with no more intention then to break mezes on the 6 guards, and xp kill chanters/clerics, was common practice

Op is a complete moran who never played live. Just a little insight, Everquest was never designed to handle or accommodate pvp battles as large as what took place last night. Anytime you get a ton of people in the same zone, the zone will eventually de-sync. It has been that way since 1999.

We used to contest Vox back in 2000 etc, when you had 140 in zone or so, the zone would crash. I remember on Inny server, we crashed the zone 3 times combating Legions of Darkness for Vox. There was well over 150 in zone. News fuckin flash, what happened last night was... wait for it.... Classic.

deal with it gif~

I remember more times on TZ when PDM Indig and Disco were all going at it in a zone it would remain stable, shit like last night didn't usually happen till player count reached the 350+s if I remember.

Regardless, I came here for the classic gameplay, not crashing.

Not TZ if you were against pande, I was on VZ/RZ from classic to PoP - the agreement always was bring your 30-60 best if it's guild v guild, fight and whoever wins gets the raid. If it was more than 2 guilds (happened a lot) it was FFA until one guild was left in zone.

Zone crashes were constant, and mobs like RZ rarely ever died due to idiots training so this is the agreement they came to.

Aimchat were like the ultralisks of the server while watching the croots morph into dem banelings and wipe out the marines.

I'd have to say I was a roach; efficient.

This is why Pande won at zek merger. They knew how to keep people down on tz and did it to everyone else after servers merged too. Agreements are for blubies.

Only dif between this server and live is people were ignorant about intentional training, MQ, zone crashing. People played dirty as fuck on TZ and if you didn't, you got dusted.

Why does this 30 guild cap keep being mentioned. I hope this is a troll that for whatever reason keeps being brought up because it is clearly the worst idea suggested as a potential server solution in all idk years I've been around this box.

didn't understand this but glorifying an aimchat clique of everquest players is a specimen of autism so profound that modern scientists would fight to the death for the right to behold it

Pande was the guild that openly MQ'd tho, no? They said if everyone else was going to do it and try to hide it they were just going to abuse it, They didn't even get in that much trouble...just a couple of warp suspensions.

Every guild openly mq'd, you're kidding yourself if you think otherwise. I was in the ASD app guild and both them and asd handed out mq compiles, and hate used mq more blatantly than anyone else.
