Looks pretty incredible. I heard alpha is going to be out this summer? Might have to buy into the closed beta like I did with hearthstone.

Kringe

Yes, alpha will be end of the summer..

For those that think its crappy or looks bad/mad/whatever other internet analogy you wish to embellish in... You probably didn't play Shadowbane at all... Which if you play on red, you would have loved Shadowbane (minus the point and click playstyle you need to adapt to.) The pvp was insane, and very skillful, problem was the game had no "end game" per se, and was buggy as fuck when released..

This game is exactly that, with awesome character diversity. Full item loot, housing etc..

P.S. Zade ive just been chilling, will come back during velious to wipe holo a few times.. Me and Dr.Nirgon have a bet that we cannot wipe holo even once in Ntov/ or Kael... (no training etc of course.)

territorial pvp + MMO = fun

anyone remember RvR in DAoC?

even if ppl don't think crowfall looks good, you have to admit new mmos are boring/stale as fuck for a while now and more developers taking risks is a good thing

Wow this looks surprisingly good. Love the art style too

Some SERIOUS Shadowbane influences in regards to the class and world design. Class design/customization in Shadowbane was probably the best in any MMO to date.

LOL dude, the "PvPers" on Red would have been but fodder on Shadowbane. These guys farm VP for four years acquiring BIS gear then PL and gear their buddies and claim they're "skilled" in pvp.

Shadowbane actually required SKILL; from the way you created and built your class, all the way up to how you actually PLAYED that class.

Lol sounds like the idiots that get art degrees coz the entry requirements are so low......

....yes yes...good choice there....4 years and 50grand later you can't find a job and end up restudying for another degree or enter low level cafe jobs where you can rave to the other art degree majors.

Hopefully they do implement and live up to the hype. Lots of games haven't hope this is a change in the right direction.

3. WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY “RESET MECHANIC”?
This “reset mechanic” is a way of returning to game to a start state, so that players remain interested in playing the game. It is a necessary ingredient to making the game work over time.

To illustrate this problem, let’s use an analogy.

Every Thanksgiving, a family gets together for a game of RISK. Only it’s not “let’s play Risk every Thanksgiving” – it’s “let’s pick up from where we left last year, in the SAME game of Risk.”

The same game. The same conflict. Year, after year, after year.

Imagine that, in year 2, Uncle Bob starts winning.

In year 3, Uncle Bob presses the advantage. By the end of this game session, Bob basically owns the board.

Fast forward 10 years. Same game. Uncle Bob is now an unassailable tyrant.

The other players (i.e. everyone other than Uncle Bob) wander away from the board – because they know they don’t stand a chance. If a new player joins the game, Bob snuffs them out in their infancy, and they quit immediately.

Everyone is bored. Even Uncle Bob is bored – because he hasn’t faced a challenge in over a decade. But he won’t give up by choice. That isn’t human nature.

In an MMO, we call this phenomenon server stagnation. The game is incredibly fun – right up until someone wins. Then, unless there is a way to start over again, the game stagnates and everyone quits.

Sounds like red99

The point of a persistent world MMO is that it's—duh—persistent. If the design requires scheduled "wipes" to prevent stagnation then it's already failed at a mechanical level, or at least in influencing the perceptions of its players.

Even in fantasy, there's a line between acceptable and absurd; you'd have had to trip over it and hit your head to think that a 2-foot tall pistol-wielding rodent is anything but the latter.

If you are speaking on crowfall you read/watch a bit more on their plan for the persistent worlds and campaigns.

From what they have released so far they have a lot of unique ideas. Stagnation is a problem with the whole genre of MMORPGs. Hopefully they can deliver

Apparently Crowfall is spearheaded by one of the original creators/game designers of Shadowbane.

I missed that on my original skimming of the Kickstarter.

Man the character creation/customization in Shadowbane is still the best I've ever seen in any RPG; I think that's what made the PVP so great, the diversity.

It's likely that every server will have a totally different "world map" and when a server "resets" the entire world map the server is using will be changed to a new one.

All the negative I see in this thread is a whole bunch of bluebieness.

You people on Red99 confuse farming VP for 4+ years and having 8 toons in BIS VP gear with "skill." Shadowbane was a game of skill whereas EverQuest is a game of gear.

EverQuest PVP is primarily about gear and numbers; this is the reason you losers gear Rogues and Rangers with epics and VP items then de-level them to 10 or 20 to kill people in rags. Again, you confuse this "griefing" with "PVP."

Sounds pretty "bluebie" compared to RZ.

Absolutely so many ways to go on customization. So many unique characters!! I probably won't have much free-time to play if it ever comes out, but looks real fun prolly would try.
