Roshen just posted this on /r/Everquest a little bit ago. He didn't post what zone it was supposed to be but it really does seem to most closely resemble Plane of Hate. Anybody have a better guess?

The circular thing in the middle tells me its Pohate.

That's exactly what I was thinking as well. Also notice the two diagonal houses in the upper left corner? Check out the bottom left corner of the current PoH map. It's really cool to have this to look at. Apparently this design was filed away in the vaults as they were going through old folders and cleaning out the offices. So this presumably is pre-alpha / alpha stuff.

I would love to have been a fly on the wall watching some of these zones get fleshed out.

hate, notice bottom left appears to be the zone in also labeled with a arrow button there. and the middle with the stair well, also the 4 pillars. The bottom left layout is very similar if not exactly the same as pohate entrance. Assuming the F, D, X, stuff means monster spawn locations, floor levels other info that prob only original author knows what it means.

This document is very special. Let me explain.

I know this is hard to believe, but I had dinner a few years ago with the boyfriend of one of the original EQ art designers. He got very drunk and started telling me about how all the Devs used to hide secrets scattered around Norrath...all having clues to a seemingly unrelated final quest, to end the ever quest.

The last clue was never found, but he told me before passing out that "he would hate to be behind such a secret." I always thought he was just jibber jabbering on, but now it makes sense. Get it? "he would HATE to be BEHIND such a secret"???

I now believe he was giving me a clue to find the last piece of the quest. If I am right, then on the back of your map---written in invisible ink---is the location of the final clue. All that is needed is a reagent and a little heat to uncover it.

All we need to do is break into the SOE building in San Diego and gain access to their archived documents vault.

My friends and I have joked for years about what the final reward might be. I personally believe it the location of Brad McQuaid's drug stash, but most I've spoken to seem to think it is an item of incomparable beauty and power.

PM me for the details.

The letters are just building names. Buildings A-X or whatever should he need to refer to the location of anything.

This is very classic. I approve. Now we just need 12hr Maestro.
