Raid Cancelled, GRATS VD on Gore kill!

So as Ektar posted recently, Gorenaire will be left up from when it spawns until 7pm est on Friday. click here for source (http://www.project1999.org/forums/showthread.php?t=52692) If it isn't dead by 4:30 PM EST, I'm going after her, and I hope many of you will join me!

Some of you might remember the public planar raids we used to lead in Blackwater. We'll be using the same set of rules. Everyone is welcome, but there is a MINIMUM LEVEL OF 54. I'm sorry to those lower level, but you really won't be much good feared and it will just extend our recovery if we have a wipe. If you are a lower level and you have exceptional resist gear, feel free to send me a PM or tell and we can discuss it. We might wipe, but we'll have a bunch of fun doing it!

To the other guilds who are considering an attempt on Gorenaire, please by all means go ahead. TR leadership has said they are doing this so other guilds can have a shot and I don't want to usurp that. That's why we are holding this raid for the few hours before TR leadership has said they will engage, and not earlier.

Gorenaire is an MR/CR fight. Please have as much magic resist and cold resist gear as you can muster!

Rules:

Please be at the appointed location before the time stated.
Ventrillo is recommended, but not required. oxygen.typefrag.com port: 40074
Follow instructions given by the raid leadership at all times.
Do not loot anything until confirming that you have won the piece with a raid leader
Have fun!

Loot:

Everyone who needs a piece of loot that has dropped will have an opportunity to roll for that item 'Need' is defined as being capable of equiping it and not having it already. Exceptions to this: The Runed Bolster Belt and the Dragon Hero Bracer will be restricted to melee classes. The Shield of the White Dragon will NOT be open for rogues, rangers, or bards. Spells will only be open to the class that can use it. I can't check to see if you don't have a spell, but please don't roll if you already have it.

If we kill the dragon, a raid leader will ask for people to send him a tell confirming that they need the item. This is just to ensure that everyone who needs the item gets a chance to roll for it. The raid leadership will then instruct those people to /random 100 for the piece. High roll wins. Wait for a raid leader to confirm that you have won the roll before looting.

I think it's a sham to recruit. I was pretty impressed with Blackwaters attitudes(as I had gone to the public raid last week) until they trained us and rolled in on camp stating that we left our camp spot last night in hate, lol.

Though in all fairness Emil wasn't even there.

This isn't the proper place for this discussion (Rants and Flames is a few sections below), but I'll explain what happened.

We didn't train you. We were at the zone in when you wiped. We didn't say that you had left your camp spot, and I'm not sure where this rumor started. Nothing of the sort was said by any member of Blackwater. We just needed to use C House as a camp site for our pulls. I was in tells with Flicka from the minute we entered C house. We agreed that we would not interfere with each other's raids, and we didn't. You pulled right through us (which is fine, we were in front of you) and we didn't touch your mobs. We then left C House as soon as we were ready to, but not before giving one of your shaman a piece of rune etched that was rotting.

I'm sorry that you had a bad reaction to our guild's movements, but we meant no harm to your raid.

I appreciate the loot of the rotting piece. Even though we did have to camp out because of 2 pulls running into each other. Our lil raids worked out just fine. I'm glad neither group resorted to territorial pissing contest.

I'll probably be there again for the one tomorrow (assuming I'm doing well with my homework!). I'd like to know exactly how to use Vent. Where do I type "oxygen.typefrag.blahblahblah", etc? I have experience with stuff like IRC. Is it complicated? I don't want to be able to talk on vent, just to listen in case something important is said.

Yeah. My only problem so far is that in the two hate clears we've been such a ridiculous zerg force that it wasn't very involving. Basically as a Bard I could be AFK and spam mana song and things would still go smoothly.

Actually, our raids haven't been too large. I haven't been taking attendance to see what our numbers have been exactly, but I'm pretty sure we've been running with low to mid 20's. Not terribly out of line with your average raid guild on the server.

But yeah, things have gone very smoothly so far. *knocks on wood*

Obviously it's out of their control if lots of people show up for the raid. If anything it shows that they're organized, inclusive, and generally know their shit so people actually want to come. Before the raids were organized many people (including me) thought that public raids would just be a shit-show, but they've actually been very successful and have sustained a consistent population of players who come out (almost) every saturday.

My only point was that it was unfortunate that the clears weren't that challenging due to the huge number of people who show up. This isn't a big deal, either way.

yes we did, we went to hate, killed maestro, then after hate was clear we cleared fear. It was an excellent raid, although we only had about 6 people outside Blackwater =(

DA had a run-in with Stefen which helped us clarify things quickly but had he not sent me a tell I wouldn't have known the location or time - bumpity bumps are good for this (thanks!), but if you could make sure it includes which zone in case it becomes an issue, that would be amazing. It really helps everyone's planning.

Thanks for hosting public raids! That's something I did a lot of on live and am happy to see being done here. It has a certain appeal to it because it's always new people trying new things.. makes it exciting!

Just curious, but why? Unfortunately I won't be able to attend (I've attended four already though), but if this really is the last one, I'd just like to say thanks for all the work. That you guys organized one of these every week so that others could gear up and experience raiding is great. I was very glad to be a part of it, and obviously especially happy for the gear I got out of it (Imbrued BP/Arms). So again, thanks.

Lazor- Thanks for the kind words. While we have enjoyed hosting the public raids, we feel the current server climate is not conducive to the goals we had hoped to achieve with the weekly events.

As stated in our opening post, the motivation behind the raids was to help the unguilded or casual player to experience content they might not otherwise see, and hopefully send them on their way having enjoyed themselves and with a few new pieces of gear. I think we were somewhat successful in this.

In recent weeks, however, our average open raider has transitioned from the casual player into players already tagged in other serious raiding guilds. Players who raid the planes nightly during the week, some of which are tagged in guilds that do their best to train or steal pulls from Blackwater at any opportunity, show up mid-public-raid and start /randoming for loot. Often we'll see the ALT toons of players in serious raiding guilds show up, competing with the truly deserving public raiders for drops.

Scheduling has also become more of an issue. As everyone knows, there's not enough raid content to go around. With a public raid, you post a start time, which allows other guilds to start 30 minutes before you if they so choose. We've tried moving the start time forward as much as possible, but I don't think it's fair to west coast players to expect them to wake up before 9am on a Saturday. Anyone who's shared a plane with another guild on this server recently knows the huge potential for disaster, intentional or not, and that's not an ideal environment for exposing new people to the planes. I've spent a few hours in tells with raid leaders for other guilds, and while some have been accommodating, the general response was - "We don't care that you're hosting a public raid for the server, we plan to clear Hate three times today."

In short, it's simply too easy to undermine a public raid on this server. We've helped a lot of people experience basic classic raid content and walk away with gear, and that's an achievement we're proud of. The factors I've mentioned above are preventing us from continuing this at an acceptable rate, so unfortunately we've made the decision to halt the practice entirely for now.

It might seem counterproductive to this pub raid, but I'm kind of routing for a guild that doesn't often go after targets to go kill Gore. If that doesn't happen, however, let's band together and get 'er done!

I hadn't even considered that the raid suspension would apply to TMO joining in this pub raid. If that's the case, feel free to sneak in on an alt or something. I don't discriminate based on guild tag.

I might swing by and toss some twitches/heals for people before the engage to help get things started. I don't see why I couldn't do that.

Well clearly it's up to Rogean, Nilbog and whoever else decided on the raid suspension to allow it. This is pretty public so im sure that if it was a problem for TMO to show up they would let them know. Entrapment isnt really something they do.

It is absoultely a public raid. Anyone level 54+ is welcome, regardless of guild affiliation (or lack thereof).

To answer a previous poster: To my knowledge Gorenaire has not spawned yet. Her window closes mid to late afternoon tomorrow (Friday) so yes, it is possible that she could go to the last moment and mess everything up. That would be the way of things, eh? For the spawn variance to not cooperate during the one week a pub raid is possible on the toughest dragon in kunark. =(

If Gore does not spawn in the next few hours, we may have to rearrange the time in order to accomodate the guilds that want to make a solo attempt at her. As I know, you guys will know
