Judging from stories, websites and screenshots from people who played back in the day, role playing seemed to be pretty popular, but nobody really does it here to my knowledge. Seems like the general attitude towards role players can be toxic, but that's on the forums (and is understandable, we can be real dicks sometimes, and there's the whole fat-kid-who-eats-by-himself-at-the-lunch-table image we all have in mind.)

Anyway!
I'm anticipating less savory replies, but hoping for that one helpful guy who has useful information. I play a high elf enchanter and an iksar necro if anyone cares.

Most roleplayers here are the kind that talk like an ogre or troll. In my time playing around with Orge tawk, most people either got a kick out of it or it went so far over their heads that they though I was just making constant spelling and grammar errors, lol!

I see more roleplayers over on Red...these guys are usually RPing a bandit or Robin Hood sort of character, which is unsurprising given the culture of Red.

The low pop and the ....interesting forum representatives on Red turn me away a bit, but I could give it a shot.

I like role play...

It's irritating as heck to deal with people who are roleplaying characters as stupid as frack, yet their stats clearly show they are not.

Trolls and Orges are not "mentally challenged"... stop trying to type like your talking like that!

Role play the culture, the discord, or religion...

The EQ lore on Ogres disagrees with you.

The population is currently trending upwards, especially with Velious being released on Red a day earlier.

Judging any community by it's loudest members is probably a bad idea. That being said, I have met some of the most toxic seeming forum posters in game and have found them classy ass gentlemen.

There is a wide divide between forum/global ooc chest-beating and actual in-game behavior.

Feel free to post examples. Or it's just a "nuh uhhh!" response.

Though the wiki states that they are not very intelligent, you are right in that they would only be about 1.5-2 standard deviations below the average human intellect of 75 (EQ int, not IQ) Which is only slightly more exacerbated than relative world population IQ variations.

They are basically intelligent enough to command language and learn from others, but not enough to advance their civilization on their own. This is presumably one of the benefits of their 'alliance' with the drow.

Zehrikrom, My guild started out just real life friends and I, we don't mind roleplay, mostly evil races and are about 50-50 split between just tooning, or roleplaying when dominating mobs all over the face of norrath.

Maybe check us out. Preferably if you play late at night, and are in our range. Most of us don't get on till about 9-10 PST.

Back on live, before Kunark, I had an all dark elf/evil race guild called <Assassins of Nektulos>. We eventually recruited some others, including a great friend I made a wood elf female druid defector. I had her killing dwarves/gnomes/halflings you name it, as well as a "dark elven" bard.

Well roleplaying from back in the day was simply staying in character not sitting around telling sob stories the rp made it way into the game from the transition from text based mud to the graphical mud which eq pretty was the first of its kind,That rp died off with the mainstream aka WoW,New EQ's etc etc all mainstream all kids who never understood the real concept of immersing yourself into the gameworld.

Rp is my bag too. Troll Shammy out protecting the Swamp as best he can.
No, it's not original, but gator wrestling is there to be had. I'd be interested in knowing if there are any Rp guilds about.

Ever wanna meet a funny RP'er, look up Borf, of Clan Borf. Occasionally I'll send him random tells on various characters asking random questions just to hear his Ogre speak responses. Dude really gets into it, and it's pretty damned funny.

I'm glad I found this. I, too, love roleplay. Back in the day my main was a barbarian warrior, but my roleplay character was a dark elf SK. And loved it.

I don't know about RP guilds but I'm totally down for re-living my RP days or making one of our own because why not.

I'm not looking for a RP guild but happy to roleplay.

I mean, I roleplay in a sense.

I just have quirks with my characters. For instance, my gnome warrior has an infatuation with troll women. And he takes offense to being called short. But that's the extent of it.

Basically, he has a back story. I was running for Ak'Anon mayor the other day in Steamfont because Ak'Anon talk radio was talking about raising taxes.

But I don't get all immersed in it, which I'm not knocking. It's just fun to have a little character backstory when you play. In fact, I mix an in character message with an OOC message all the time :)
