We are transitioning to a new season!
We will continue to monitor kills until the new season has arrived.
Visit http://www.r99pvp.com/seasonone/ to see Season 1 Scoring
I rushed to PvP Server Chat expecting thirteen pages of infantile commentary but it appears that I am
FIRST #1
So. The board will be wiped clean. Copy/Paste your stats now folks so you can refer back to the glory days of your characters when you get ganked in the future and need to save some face on ForumQuest.

The data from previous seasons will always be available on the site - as we make way for the new season to begin, the Season 1 data has simply been moved to its new home - http://www.r99pvp.com/seasonone/
The new season will be a bit different! I'm excited. We're going to give players the choice of whether or not to be involved with the scoring aspect of the leaderboard. This will help ameliorate the problems with noobs in rags being farmed for points. I imagine the so-called PvPers who don't opt into the scoring will be flamed pretty hard =) Also we're going to be weighting the scoring by level, for those who choose to opt in, to a very serious degree. I'm hoping this will provide better balance to the scoring, and will give people not only the opportunity but also some encouragement to level up to max level and then get involved with the scoring.

That would be something more for a leaderboard integrated on the server. It would be cool to award a bonus for PvP that leads to like a VS or a PD kill or whatever, too.

I feel like this new leaderboard will be great with 1% of holo opting in.

This is good news all around. Good work too on all you do for the Red community.

Looking forward to what you come up with. The Leaderboard is such a cool adjunct to the whole PvP experience of the server. I know this kind of thing doesn't materialize out of thin air.
Thank you for having the technical knowledge and setting aside the time to do this!
I think one thing that would improve the leader board, severely, would be if it took into account the consistency with which kills were generated.
I believe more frequent kills have the implication that the player is taking more risks, which should be factored in. Too many folk load in and farm one or two kills a day, with very minimal risks and gradually escalate up the ladder.
I really don't believe that should be the kind of hunt style that should be most heavily rewarded.
IE- if the player has acquired X amount of time, their points are multiplied by some modifier, which gradually decreases since your last kill.
This will encourage "hardcore PVPrs" to go hunt outside their comfort zone, be more available for pvp, if they want to keep a good ranking.
It is currently too easy to escalate on the leaderboard, while at the same time avoiding PVP.
PS, although I was originally against opting in being optional, I am now in agreement with the system. It is necessary.
Many of the lower end griefers are going to have to get on their 60's and get to work :)

There is no one on this server to kill outside raid times
has nothing to do with leaderboard points
80% of the level 60 player base in north american time zone(s) is in one guild. None of which attempt to do anything outside of raid time.
They level up with no tag, and claim "grief" newb in rags . Get 60 and you never see them again.
I don't care what the point system is because at best, its a fun tracker for people to look at while they dont have enough time to actually log in.
90% of the kills are generated by like 5 people on the leader board. I would consider this a non issue.
I actually got more kills before the leader boards all together. So for people that think they can stop murderous psychopaths from doing their thing. I highly doubt that, but i encourage change.

start a gift shop website where you can spend your pvp points on gear, it will encourage young players to slay eachother and give a chance for villians to upgrade their gear since they don't want to pve anyways
god knows you have the plat you fat shitbag.

Anything that gets people out into the world playing the game is good. I think what you mention has the potential to punish people with limited play time however but I like the concept a bit. I mean if they only get to play on weekends or something then Saturdays point gain will suck.
What if you did like a double or bonus points period. Advertised ahead of time. Would probably see a jump in players activity and pvp. Say once a week and have it randomized. Wouldnt be too hard to code in Jer dog = )
You see what happens on live when they do a double XP weekend... zones be full!

So if you opt out does that mean when a pvper kills you they get no points or credit for it? I'd suggest if that's the case to just credit points for a kill on a player not opted in but don't record their name or give them any negative stat recorded.
Otherwise it'll be hard to get any points as a pvper.

don't care how stats/points/ranks work

Ya stats are dumb.
Lite's idea would hurt Queen, HPT and Knife brutally. They're all very safe PvPers. At the same time you can't really fault them for not taking fights at the entrance to Sebilis or places where there's not an easy escape route. That's playing smart. It's boring as fuck, sure. But even the chance that their name will be showcased on the left server wide is enough to not participate in those types of fights. Probably why they have Melee alts that can move through dungeons n shit.
Either way, it's problematic in the sense that certain classes innately have more survivability than others. Chasing someone through a high level dungeon on a rogue is clearly more dangerous than almost any scenario a wizard can get into with the hope of survival, let alone YT, yet it's still a fairly common occurrence.

Just make a leaderboard for Lite fitting his exact specifications so he can come out on top for once.

it's basically impossible to craft a ranking system on this game where class strengths and weaknesses vary greatly and there isn't a way to quantify anything but the last hit on a player
so why overcomplicate it or even care?

As long as I still get credit for those who 'opt out' I am fine. As a self geared necro (first time playing a red server) 3/4 of my kills are on Fresh and the bad Holo players. The people who don't just dispel and gate or the Holo druid who jumped me and a guildy on a CR and didn't think to snare or root us (he was red to us), and instead tried to fo nuke and dots....
Lets face it, for a mid run PvPer like me I am going to get owned by Sharks like Colgate, or Lite in PvP. So I get the odd kill on a good pvper, lots of kills on the crappy blue players, and a good mix of kills and deaths to other mid range guys.
Just my thoughts on it. It's like an ecosystem, you have a few sharks, lots of minnows, and a mix in between....they all need to eat lol. Minnows obviously just eat pixels...
