View Full Version : Bind points in Kunark

This just randomly popped into my head, but I remember that at some point during/after Kunark, bind points were added around the continent to ease the insane CRs that melee folk had to endure. I remember one being a certain spot in Frontier Mountains, but I don't remember the others. Are these going to be added? I realize it's not "classic", but neither are a lot of things on this server, including Kunark for that matter.

I know nothing of this. Any time I was in Kunark I was always bound in FV. Well, until PoP came out and bind points didn't matter any more.

Kunark was when they started making it impossible for even casters to bind in dungeons. You couldn't bind in Sebilis, Chardok, or Charasis, let alone VP, just weeks into the expansion. Might have been days, but I think they allowed it for a few.

Aside from FV, the DE outpost and Cabilis, the only other bind spots I remember were City of Mist and the ruins in FM.

i was either bound with my bard in FV or at the OT outpost, you could be bound there outside the wall as non evil melee.
Kunark isn't that big anyway, the zone connections allowed to be in every zone after 3-4 zonelines, try this in antonica while bound in freeport and dieing at Splitpaw :D

I have a ... bad way to make the outdoor bind areas work in perl.

I'm hoping that we have a better system in place that doesn't require scripts.

You could bind in Kaesora..

I know this because most of my guild had lower lvls bound there when hunting Kurns and Droga

Speaking of bind points, have old world bind points like Oasis and North Karana gypsy camps been added?

I believe the NK Gypsy camp is operational, but you get a funky error message when someone tries to bind you there. It apparently works (I do not know personally), but expect a different-from-normal message. Also, you'd best bind on the northwest side of the camp, since a Griffene/Griffon/Griffawn (each are PH's for one another) paths right into and stops at a part of the camp, which is I believe the East/Southeast side. Grizzlies also track through there consistently, so I wouldn't do it until you're 22ish or higher.

for some reason i thought you could bind at the windmill in LOIO as well because i remember running from there when fighting at the sarnak fort way back when on my bard.

The Windmill at LOIO was the first time I remember binding in Kunark, all the while wondering "How the hell will I get out of here?"
...It was also this experience that led me to make a druid and wizard, swearing off the non-port classes forever :p

If you have a way to bind yourself, i.e. Locket of Escape.

I never really understood why anyone would bind at the pots - it doesn't get you anywhere useful, guarantees long CRs for Kunark dungeons, and throws in an occasional bind death loop. OT hammer plus bind outside the dungeon you are hunting in is far more useful imo.

I could see a good reason for an epic+manastone wizzy to park at the pots forever (as long he doesn't get on bad cos faction =)

The way I see it, bind there now while you can.

Later, if you decide it's not worth it. Bind somewhere elsewhere.

However, later, if you find yourself wishing you had bound at the pots and thats no longer an option. Well, you're SOL.

Wizzy can port into old world anyway. Still not seeing a reason.

OT hammer is money. It became even better when PoP came out cause Overthere has a pok book in it (not that that would ever happen on this server, but I still used my OT Hammer on live even in SoD).

I played on a tz and was human and was always jealous that darks got an OT hammer and i always thought Lights should of gotten a FV hammer

It gets you to every continent in the game.
The cabalis location alone is extremely useful.
The Halas portal is also badass as no port spell takes you anywhere near there
Also there is usually a wiz or druid there that can port you to DL if you need to be on the other side of Kunark.

I know corpse runs suck when there is no rez to be had but that's the risk versus reward.

Get enough people bound there can do easy trades

Yea I actually retract what I said. I totally forgot there was a cab pot. That swings it for me.

I bound all my binding toons there today :P

Bump for Kunark relevance.

So is the Frontier Mountains location usable right now or no?

If you think you are screwed now wait till Velious comes out. Only 3 real cities to bind in. It will be ugly.

Melees that are "good" races can be bound in Overthere just outside the NE corner of the evil outpost wall. +3387, +1924. Good for hunting Dalnir or Howling Stones.

Yes the FM bind spot works but not worth using it. Unlike live or EQ mac mobs here on p1999 mobs do in fact path right through the ruins. You can check out any of the kunark outside zones and see that pathing is fubard.

It is just one of the quirks of p1999 you have to get used too.
