So i wasnt sure what stats to add so currently my level 3 paladin has these stats:
STR 90
STA 80
AGI 80
Dex 85
Am I doomed to mediocrity with these stats? Im very new to eq and dont really know if there is a way to increase them or what disadvantages ill have
Thanks

I doubt it's going to make much of a difference in the end. Personally, I always just dump the points in to STA. If you're worried about it, you can reroll and be level 3 again pretty quickly.

Stats are pretty easily compensated with gear.
STA is one of the harder ones to raise as you get higher in level but not impossible.
Personally a good balance (STR and STA) is the way I like to go. Without STR you can't carry any loot or hit as hard.
Thankfully you didn't dump it all into CHA or somesuch.... Did you? ;)

Your stats are fine. Min-maxers advocate all points into STA for every class because it is the most difficult stat to max. However it takes many levels for the additional STA to even become noticeable, whereas that extra str you picked up will serve you through your entire leveling career with less encumberance and greater accuracy. The 80 AGI also ensures that when you do become encumbered, you will not take an immediate bit to mitigation as you would with only 75 AGI.

If you're concerned, but only level 3, just reroll. Honestly, for your class, beginning stats aren't all that important. As long as you don't dump it into Int or cha, you should be good.

You should be concerned because you didn't pick Dwarf.
Wisdom is also important because that determines your mana pool.

Cha is a bad start? Omg..in the hands of certain players it is one of the more useful stats.

It is useful for minimizing critical failures on lulls, but that is greatly reduced with a cha buff and crude stein (provided you are not an ugly dwarf) and all but eliminated with levels. I would not advocate spending starting points on it for that, since in the end it does not bring that great am improvement to one's quality of life as a paladin.

With Velious around the corner, you can put stats in whatever you want. The gear in Velious is SO much better than vanilla and Kunark in regards to stats.

After a year or so everyone will be in Sleepers rocking primal's. +100 to stats or whatever is pretty easy to hit the cap.

Yep...I won't forget the day the sleeper awoke on Povar. That sucked. I was running around in EW and next thing I know I was dead. Guess what!? I saw nothing. It was an AE from the dragon and he was NO WHERE to be seen. The AE was zone wide and did a massive amount of damage.
NOT to mention fear and if you did see him, then you were dead within seconds....so enjoy seeing a prismatic dragon for that short amount of time. THEN, about a week later, he didn't prowl the earth anymore.
THEN! Everyone had primals. hehe, jk! Only Triton.

Being a cleric who lulls frequently, bag room for a cha gear set can be hard to come by (as can cha buffs at times). And no, level's dont eliminate the need for cha except in trivial zones (ie lguk at 60).
Considering a paladin's role is not to do dps, they have on-demand agro, and sta is a stat which, with buffs, is going to be much easier to max in Velious, this makes me much more interested in cha. Of course, if you don't play a paladin like that, then ignore cha, but this makes an emarr human paladin (great/cheap armor) and a tunare high-elf paladin much more attractive IMO. Cha is sorta the last frontier for extreme raid warriors, pulling paladins, and crazy clerics.
I would not recommend it for a person who doesn't have an idea of their playstyle and a specific end-goal in mind, but I merely wanted to take issue with the poo-pooing of Cha's value.

On Prexus once KTF released the Sleeper, for a couple of weeks the Guards (Arbitrator, etc...) were perma camped by the 3 or so power guilds to get Primals/Priceless, then it opened up to other guilds as there wasn't anything else to really do down there.
After that everyone moved on to training each other in NTOV and AoW. Will be interested in seeing how it plays out, but given the fact that Velious is going to be the last expansion, given enough time, I would assume others will be in there over time.

I understood that and unfortunately it did nothing to address the OP's concerns. At he risk of encouraging you, I translated and addressed your "whispers on the wind" warning to the OP (since it was indeed a fair point) by explaining the reason behind it and other factors at play. And yes, I am very sorry to say, but levels are vastly more important than CHA for lulling. Allow me to put it to you another way, would you rather pull anywhere with 5 fewer levels or 20 less CHA? That's what I thought. I agree with you though that CHA is undervalued by many and am refreshed to see someone else who gets it, but no need to turn zealot with it.
I don't see many people rolling wood elf warriors with points dumped into CHA for potential DI saves anytime soon, but I could be wrong. I've never played much with the spell personally, but if you've had good experiences with it, kudos, I'd be interested in hearing about them ^^

Good point. I'm looking at it from a 60 perspective in that I can't gain anymore levels but I can gain more cha.
I've yet to get in good testing (its a pita) of DI fires. I'm told that Nillhum used it extensively this last summer on beta, and that DI with high CHA was firing left and right. Some testing on barb and ogre tanks last summer in AT had some potential in that if it kept scaling to super high cha it would vindicate the Nillhum info. Assuming a high-end raid tank is able to max their melee stats np with gear and buffs, then that may leave cha as the only stat they'll have trouble maxing (although this really ends up begging a conversation about how to eliminate the most buff slots when juggling tank stats, cha, DI, dmg shield buffs, etc etc).
I do know that in Luclin/PoP/on this spell was a MUST-HAVE on tanks, and it fired like crazy/saved raids a ton.
Very off-topic I know, it really just comes from me liking to explore spellbooks (ie calm on pal/clr), interesting raid mechanics (DI), and unusual playstyles.
Sorry to the OP for having this conversation in your thread, but hopefully it just highlights that A - The stats you pick don't gimp your toon a ton, B - there's alots of fun ways to play a class, and C - you should pick what is fun for you.
If I had to start over on P99 knowing what I know now, I'd probably make a human emar paladin, save up ~7k for a cultural emarr armor set, then save up for my epic. The road less traveled, but I think it would be fun to have 90% of the spellbook of a lvl 50 cleric, the tools available to a paladin to pull and contribute to groups, and the low-cost of that particular armor set plus the pal epic being so easy to get (and other pal weapons).

With Velious around the corner your Paladin needs to be a High Elf, with all points into Wisdom.
You'll cap str, dex, agi, and sta with gear and buffs, but not Wisdom.

Most players aren't going to cap anything in Velious. Yes, gear is way better and yes, avatar is fantastic, but it's not like it is going to be raining ToV gear in Mismoore....
Now if you are a power gamer and looking to min-max, then yeah you will be able to max your melee stats and wisdom will lag, but we really need to consider the effectiveness that a larger mana pool brings :/ The effectiveness of a large mana pool is highly situational since it all regens at the same rate. That aside Avatar does not give STA, making it more difficult to cap than other melee stats.
