Server down?

I can't connect to the server even though it says the server is up. When I log in it doesn't show me the servers (I see a blank list) and then eventually it says "time out error".

Update: I can now log in and get on all of my characters but one. Every time I try to log onto my character that I was on when it went down the game crashes, I think there is something wrong with him specifically.

When I crashed I was in Kaladim and casted Gate (gate should have taken me to G faydark). The instant gate was finished casting I crashed.
