Gonna go out on a limb and say Bob knows what he is doing. Only here for a few weeks but from what I can tell Bob is EC or EC is Bob...pick one.

The point of the mage is you can.... farm.... all that whacky stuff that sells well in EC.

It's the Rangers and Warriors and melee classes that need the "gear" to be valuable.. You could do more with a naked mage/necro than a fully planar melee.
