View Full Version : Lag, but only on one character

I've been having this problem with nasty graphical lag that occurs only on one character, my 35 rogue. It is also more noticeable during combat, whether I'm participating or not. It's particularly prominent when I mouse look around. It gets VERY jerky.

Nothing I do seems to change this or make it better. I've made sure that there are no spell effects on me and I've even removed all my equipment and put it in the inventory. Still no change.

The most peculiar aspect of this is that it doesn't happen on my other toons. I actually went so far as to take my enchanter to the same spot (on the same night) and another toon, my mage (one human, one gnome) and everything is as quick as ever. But back to the rogue and it's lag-city. And then to one of the other toons and it's fast again.

I've tried everything I can think of. This is all on the same computer and I've tried logging off and on, removing things in the back ground, etc. I'm on a windows 7 machine with a 6-core processor and 8gb RAM. I'm not using any EQ-related add-ons, legit or otherwise, including EQWin or whatever it's called.

Any suggestions of something I may not tried yet?

Some zones/spots are just bad and will be choppy.

Getting WinEQ2 helped me with a lot of these problems but not all.

what race is your rogue?

Oh, and I get that. But my problem is that it's only laggy on this ONE toon. I have 3 toons (on 2 separate accounts even) at the same spot and only my rogue is the one having lag issues. I've had to leave groups because it makes it unplayable yet I leveled my chanter there with no problems whatsoever (same computer).

Gnome. I thought that might be an issue too so I took my gnome mage there too and there are no problems on her at all, nor with my enchanter in gnome illusion.

I've also removed everything my rogue is wearing and no change as well as removed a bunch of graphics options.

The salient point here isn't just that there's lag but that there's lag on only one toon on the very same computer. It's also not terribly new. I noticed it at least a month or so ago, if not longer. It's just that I only now took the time to post something.

aside from WinEQ2, which Jeremy already mention. my only other suggestion would be to remove all of that character's ini files in your EQ folder. any file with your chars name in the filename, remove it (don't delete, just move to backup folder)

Do you have logs permanently set on? I keep my logs on and I notice when I don't delete/reset them the files get too big and it makes my game lag like crazy. Unplayable in combat.

I'll try the log clearing but I'm not terribly optimistic because the logs are far greater on Lisset but I'll give it a shot.

It was the logs.

It's odd because Petitfleur literally had 1/3 the log size of Lisset and Lisset had no lag problems. Go figure.

Problem solved, thanks for the help.

Was just fixing to post that I have the exact same issue. I will give the log try a shot as I have tried everything else listed above.

Worked like a charm, thanks for the help.
