View Full Version : Paladin at level 24 - Where to go?

I've read many leveling guides but I find the suggestions are normally for casters. I've tried Unrest, and it's brutal. Apparently, "camps" on P1999 are like claims to all mobs in ANY VICINITY WHATSOEVER. Weird. So effectively, there really isn't much space for anyone.

I tried Mistmoore, same thing.

Is there any place I can solo? Is Lake of Ill Omen worth it even with the exp penalty? Since it's Kunark will I just get my butt whipped? I have a Baton of Faith, scrounged up coin for a couple of the 5ac 55hp rings, the rest of my gear is pretty basic like bronze or banded. I do ok. Is there anywhere in this game with a decent amount of mobs I can solo at a casual pace? Oasis was great because of this.

Thanks.

I think your gonna have to stop soloing and start grouping.

True paladins solo to 60.

at 24 u can bring holy wrath to inkys in nektulos up to 27, or if not very camped u can go gobo slayer in sola.

27 30 giants skeletons in rathe provide good xp.

Hmm, I found that the respawn times were pretty long and sometimes they get replaced with Dragoon's (the level 50) guards. I checked out Sol A but yea, pretty camped. I'm in Najena atm camping the Tentacle Terrors. Slow, but at least it's pretty consistent and safe. :)

Any other suggestions, however? I'm always up for options!

Hey OP.

I can attest to the fact that places like unrest are ultra camped by the same twinks.

You will have a hell of a time finding a group there within a reasonable amount of time. Same goes for mistmoore. My suggestion is to go to LOIO and look for a ledge group. its a no brainer in my opinion. I felt like the LOIO crowd was a lot more laid back as well.

Another thing is, you can get into a decent group camping the 4 skeletons at the ruined building near the windmill.

The great thing about LOIO is that there are quite a lot more options for solo or duo or group. Places like unrest and mistmoore look great on paper but tend not to be realistic to the more casual player.

I mostly soloed to 51 on my paladin back in 2003. Around your level I think I was in Najena doing the skeletons and tentacle terrors. Great xp gain on those and can use undead spells on the skellies.

Spot on advice.

Plus if you plan to solo up a paladin expect to not been in hotspots as much.

Unrest is over campped till late in the offpeak timezones of the server.

(P.s soloed/duoed my paladin to 30 there)

Best paladin xp is duoing with a high DPs class. You tank it they DPs it.

And if u can get a ghoulbane/wurmy and fungi (sorry I know elite items) your ride to 50 will be mediocre speed

Hey, thanks for all the advice guys. I super appreciate it. Will take all of it into account. Might see me in Lake of Ill Omen come tomorrow, I think.

Salahdin, I wish I had a Fungi! But I do have a Baton of Faith. I also don't play with anyone so I don't really have any DPS class to duo with. I'll find some duo partners soon, I'm sure.

Cheers!

If you figure out a rhythm, goblins in Runnyeye on the second floor are blue to 30, drop bronze, fine steel and black iron. Can pull to the third floor where nothing assists.

That's perfect, thank you.

Warslik's Wood is my favorite laid back 20-30 leveling zone. This area lacks undead, but it's severely underused and stress-free.

20-24 - Iksar Bandit Camps scattered through the zone
25-30 - Brute Caves right outside Dalnir
25-30 (Alternative) - Solo/Duo the Giant Fort

If Kunark isn't your thing, I would try to make your own groups in Upper Guk and take advantage of that big ZEM. There have been quite a few players taking this leveling path lately so there's a decent amount of people to form a party with. Oasis is nearby to poach replacements from whenever the time comes. South Karana has been another one of my favorite laid back places to level. The Aviak village is dripping with nostalgia and decent exp!

Warsliks Woods, go into the brute tunnels and head down to the Crypt of Dalnir zoneline.

The skulking brutes are very managable, there are plenty and can be single pulled carefully without lull. I did this with my paladin until -30ish and it's the exact kind of slow paced soloing you are looking for. No casters, right at a zoneline in case of trouble. You might even pick up the occasional Dalnir group like I did if you get bored.

You might need a couple more levels though, they're level 22. The cons are that it's pretty out of the way (you might need to use an invis pot to get down to the dalnir zoneline) and that they don't drop much for loot.

Wow that sounds perfect. Could I fight my way down?

I agree with some of the people above that the brute caves outside Dalnir are a great place to level. I've taken about 4 characters through their late 20s there on both the blue and red server. The problem with it is, I think the secret is out on it a bit, and it can really only support two people hunting there; maybe even just one if they are really twinked. Couple with the fact that it is one of the most isolated places in the game makes it a real pain to check only to find it camped.

On my paladin several years ago, I soloed it up to 50, but the server population was much lower back then. I did tentacle terrors in najena up to 26 or so (there's 4 possible spawn points that I know of, two guaranteed and two that can spawn skeletons or terrors). When you get a little higher, it's possible, but dangerous to do the black widow spiders and skeletons that are deeper in najena. Then I did the brute caves in WW to 31, and then the entrance area inside of Paw until 36 or so. Then I went to the shoreline of Firiona Vie and stayed there until like 42 or higher.

Soloing all the way up with a paladin is very possible, but very slow. Best of luck to you!

Maybe, just have to watch the wanderers. Worst case you could train them to dalnir.

Thank you! I'm not so concerned about the speed of which I level. I came back to enjoy the experience, so no big. I'm not anti-social, I just don't like having limited time and no options to gain some experience when I'm around. Ahh remembering the days of being LFG in Sebilis for 2h before you could even get some exp. Haha.

Cheers.

I am now 30. I'm still grinding on good ol Giant Skels in Rathe Mountains. Safe exp, easy to fear kite them, and marginally lucrative. But I imagine at 31 (when I'll probably stop), they'll be not as worth it to hang around. I checked out Cazic-Thule because the memories were awesome there. But it was literally empty. Tried to grind on some alligators but I wasn't so successful due to simply how many there were. Was tough to get a foothold in there.

I'm going to check out the entrance to Paw at 31, like Sepulveda suggested. Anyone else have some decent solo areas around low 30s?

Cheers. You've all been very helpful.

I'm feeling that presently. As a level 26 rogue untwinked (first character on server) I most defiantly cannot solo, and mistmoore has a grand total of 1 camp for my level range (pond near zone in) so I usually end up waiting 2-3 hours on some list. Making me about ready to quit :(

I recommend you move on from mistmoore if you feel that way. For grouping you can always try unrest fireplace, or if you don't mind relocating, hit up upper guk dead side ZL grp or even yes lake of ill omen at a ledge group, it's a little rough with that minor penalty but the numerous mobs makes up for it. As a rogue you can also sneak through goblin caves and go try to join a warsilks woods giant fort group.

Good luck, and hang in there!

I'm a little late to the party, but if you're looking for places to hunt (at any level) you can't go wrong by checking the Per-Level Hunting Guide (http://wiki.project1999.com/Per-Level_Hunting_Guide). It has both solo and group hunting spots, typically with 10 or more spots for any given level.

And of course since it's a wiki if you see any spots missing you can always edit the page and add them!
