I know for a rogue, Ragebringer is the ideal mainhand, most will be rdy to complete it on the arrival of kunark - but for those who aren't, what is a good alternative mainhand dagger? Offhand?
With the changes to taunt, will warriors need to rely less on procs, and more on better atk/dly weapons? Lamentation/jade mace?
Discuss!

Ragebringer / Thornstinger(rare/hard PoSky) is the best combo til Velious. Crystalline Spears will have a sharp price decrease once epics premier so we should see some 13 damage piercers outside of "uber" guilds. Also, Locustlure 8/17 walking sleep proc has a whopping 2.125 ratio and will commonly find itself in rogue's offhand slot. While doing your epic hope for an Edge of the Nightwalker though

When does the rogue's Test of Deception start giving out Thornstinger and not Ebonsting? Anyone know when this change occurred?

i forgot about Ebonsting, I suppose there's no reason to assume Thornstinger was added during Kunark it does seem pretty OP for the era.

Be prepared for a little wait for that epic.
Kunark release: April 21, 2000
Epic quests added: September 19, 2000

Epics aren't in right away. Not sure if I would use the Ebonsting due to the AE proc(Project Lightning) it has. But ya, it is nice aside from that.

MCT is fucking garbage for a rogue D= The purpose of MCT is to proc a high damage offhand repeatedly ^_^
RB is MH, no question. Nothing comes remotely close outside of sky loot (which honestly, the general fight is easier to get people for than sky). Offhand of course you have that one from general linked previously, you have

...Anyone remember the names of those two swords that dropped super rarely from the Krups? Black dragon eye and emerald dragon eye? One of em had a proc that wasn't too bad on aggro iirc, made it a good damgae sword. I remember them mostly on warriors, though.
Just some food for thought. Out of that list, JBOM is ridiculously common cheap and uncannily good (13/25, 10svm 10 dex) for little work.

I agree, and actually I'm not sure its even Rogue useable.
Also, Ragebringer iirc doesn't hit our offhand til we get the Velious Tunare dagger Massive Heartwood Thorn (tbh there is nothing in the world I wanted more at the time than this weapon after Hobben got one)

MCT is a nice monk weapon - this thread is about all melee upgrades/potential items - not just rogues (even tho rogue's are the best melee class in EQ :P)
@Azeth: I know Locustlure has a really good ratio, but is the proc worth it? Isn't it pretty much instant aggro combined with backstab and our high dps output?
http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=747 seems like a pretty good sub, until RB is released. And what do you guys think of :

for sure ridic, Locustlure is nothing but a mistake to be wielding during a raid. In a PuG though, Seb for instance, pulling aggro means what a double or triple for ~200 dmg total?
Ideally when epics are out I'd like to be holding a Ragebringer + EotN, also I plan to acquire a Bloodpoint + Locustlure solely for niche situations.

I'm sure we will, since Velious will prolly be out a little later then it was on live - after Trak falls, and is on farm, all the high-end guilds will be in Peak, wiping like the ol' days :)

You think EotN is still better then a good ratio dagger? with the 10% dagger bonus for rogues? or does that dissolve when kunark releases?

Hilarious, I hadn't even thought of this item. I see NO REASON why it shouldn't be ingame at Kunark's release either.
Should end up being a very valuable item - rivaling the manastone.
The proc = instant aggro. A 2nd proc = permanent aggro.

That would be guild help lol. What would someone.. let's say, unguilded, fresh 60, or in a guild with very few 60 friends, do for a offhander? or even mainhand, if they can't obtain a RB?
Just use jagged blade of mourning offhand 13 25 not too shabby.

Scimitar of the Emerald Dawn (http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=4186) is an interesting rogue off-hand. The stats are a bit weird, but it's a solid 20 damage without some stupid aggro proc.

Blade of the green dragon eye was 13/24, no proc, largely "meh" especially with alternatives like JBOM (13/25) being easily available. Thanks for the link--that weapon was PWN to put with the proc epic (the buff epic was meh)

The Trochillic's Skean. GREAT aggro weapon - I had one on my warrior main during Kunark-era on live.
I used to offhand it with my warrior epic in main. Not only is the proc a poison, but a spin-stun too. As you can imagine, that generates massive amounts aggro.

Anyone know if Yak will still be a good tanking weapon once these Kunark ones come out?
Yak vs Jade Mace as holding agro for warrior.
Trying to figure out if I should save my Yak money for Jade Mace or just buy the Yak now.

Warriors won't have problems tanking in Kunark. There are a ton of really good tanking weapons which will cause Yak's price to plummet.

Christ, getting a group or camp in seb is going to be like winning the lottery. That's assuming some guilds/groups/people don't just do like they did in classic and train until groups leave them.

What was the agro/taunt mechanic that changed in kunark that made it so warriors could hold decent agro with fast weapons instead of proc weapons?
Cant remember off the top of my head.

They changed the way taunt worked for warriors so they could taunt higher level mobs.

Ok that makes sense, I wasnt a tank in classic so wasnt sure of the exact mechanic. I just remember that the SK would peel the monks pull with disease cloud in raids and the warrior would taunt it off of him, and never lose agro.
