Someone I'm sure somewhere in one of these.... TONS of threads, has probably posted the answer to my question, but I have failed to find it... Does the install HAVE to be from EQ Titanium? I'm not really wanting to spend $90 for an old copy of EQ, is there a way around this? I have a current account (Not Gold) and I think every expansion except the last one, is there a way to copy the necessary files?? Any help would be much appreciated, or even just a link to the thread that explains how to do so. Thx

Yes, it is: this server works with exactly one client, and that client is Titanium.

Don't spend $90, there is no reason to do so.

Nope. Everquest's files changed over time, so the live files are significantly different from what they were during the classic era. It'd be like copying Diablo 3 files in to your Diablo 2 installation.
Any help would be much appreciated, or even just a link to the thread that explains how to do so. Thx
Rararboker beat me to it, but in general you can either:
A) get the name of a site from a thread like the one Rararboker linked and search for titatium there
B) use Google (search for "everquest titanium torrent")

Just do a search on here. Trust me hardly anyone on here has paid a dime for it. Most all of us paid for it years ago, so no big deal.

If you own the original EQ and Kunark CD's could you use them?
What do you mean viruses? The DLL?

Are you mentally handicap? Do you really think viruses didn't exist that long ago?

wut
there is a comment section on it for a reason and considering everyone here used the same files i think we would of known about it 8yrs ago also pretty sure someone has done a md5 checksum on the isos and they are an exact copy of the retail cds
so yeah, are you?

The comments that say it contains a Trojan? Lol, yes I got weird shit on my pc now, adds saying install this plugin etc, I never had any of this stuff, I just want to join the P99 community, and that's it.

  Do you really think that's what he was referring to? What he meant was that it's highly unlikely for a torrent to stay that active for that long if it has viruses.
Much, much more likely that an antiviral program registers a false positive.
virustotal.com can help a lot in this regard. This is the scan I ran on dsetup (the troublesome file) about 7-8 months ago and reanalyzed today:
https://www.virustotal.com/en/file/9aa21df8f037e381006e75629ba739131a64aef05b8e6e9f26 6cc1a38d888601/analysis/1426419356/
All of those mentions of "Generic" this or that usually mean the program doesn't really know what the file does. And Avast is more trustworthy than McAfee, Symantec, AVG, etc. So, if it says "okay," then I trust its word. Also, the score improved from 20/52 to 10/52 in that period. That says to me, "False positive."

I removed my full paid for version of AVG, and downloaded AVAST, and when I try to download these files from them certain links, it stops it, then voice commands start going off like crazy, they're infected, I've tried to pass the files off as ok and nothing will install when I click Next.

Basically.. This entire community torrented the titanium install. So it's something on your end. Maybe you downloaded a bad one? (I usually sort by most seeded, then grab that. Usually legit). Or maybe you will have to disable your virus software.

buying the disks wont help you either btw if your busted AV software is triggering on the legit 5 Disk install Isos, its gonna have a conniption fit with the actual problem of the anti-cheat dll in the patch files
http://www.project1999.com/forums/showthread.php?t=173641 <-- try downloading the patch and unzipping it on your desktop, if you cant get that to work, no matter what titanium you get you wont be able to play here without fixing your settings in UAC,AV..etc

theres many different things at play here, and I will try to address them all.
in regards to the custom p1999 patch + dll file - This user hasn't even gotten to the part about "applying the custom p1999 patch onto your Titanium installation" due to the fact that they cant even get Titanium installed yet. So we'll disregard that part for now.
In regards to Triston420 only finding viruses, while the majority of this community was successful. Well I can say that the source was reliable from 2009 until 2014, but then that site went down in 2014 and people were stuck looking for other sources. Well now that site is back, but is it still the exact same legit/safe copy? No one really knows... Maybe its a new copy that's been infected. Sounds like that's what happened to Triston420. Someone want to dig into that deeper?
In regards to Tongpow md5 & 8 year old source - Can you confirm this the original torrent uploaded 8 years ago, and has not been altered since? Also, I can't see a MD5 checksum working since that one everyone's been downloading for the last few years DOESNT match the installation disks. HINT - check eqhosts.ini, its already been updated to point to eqemulator.net - yes, right off the ISO. Therefore that is not a fresh/exact copy of the Titanium cd's. Files have been modified on that ISO. So ya, pretty sure someone HASNT done an md5 checksum and compared it to the retail cds...

Downloaded the only EQ torrent with double digit seeds from 2007 scanned all 5 iso's with avast and Malwarebytes and it came back with nothing...
