Hey guys. How are the groupings here? I have been thinking about leaving EQ live to play here but just a little concerned with grouping. I remember when I started EQ, there were always people in crush bone, EC, castle mist more and all that.

Same populated zones here. Finding a group is just as much of a dice roll, usually takes between 30 seconds and 10 minutes, but can take longer. If you're creative and start your own groups doing unconventional things, though, it cuts down on those times where you would be sitting on your ass for half an hour.

I just started here about a week ago. Orc hill in GFAY/Crushbone constantly has groups. I'm usually starting groups myself though, so I find it a lot quicker than sitting around waiting for slots to open.

Yeah starting anywhere on Faydwer or Freeport are the two most popular options. In Faydwer most of the starting cities are a zone or two away from Gfay, and Freeport is a zone away from EC. You always see Orc 1 and Orc 2 groups going on in EC. Both starting spots can make for real easy transitions in the early levels.

Even qeynos/Halas aren't bad starting options. Blackburrow usually has a decent population and gnoll fang EXP is pretty ridiculous.

Awesome. Now to decide what to play. Definitely one that always likes groups and useful on raids.

tons of groups, if anything there are too many. main zones are often overcamped so adventure and BYOGroup pays off.

If you play anytime after say noon EST you'll find groups in pretty much every notable zone/dungeon/camp at any level range.

This.

eq requires patience. You can play three nights in a row where you get great groups and have a great time. Then all of a sudden, for reasons known only to the gods, you can go three days looking for a group or trying to start a group and things don't quite work. That is eq.

The point to remember is, all of us are in the same boat. This game is not ez mode, and there are nights it just don't work.

My favorite is when I have been lfg all evening, and then I finally go to log out maybe around midnight, and I get a /tell "hey! We have a fantastic group going, we are totally owning everything, can you come? PLZZZZ!!"

Then ya got a decision to make: sleep, or eq.

Only you can make that choice lol.

Enc is always a great first char. 1) not very gear dependent, 2) can solo or group effectively, 3) can farm high level camps for cash later on

Well, I changed from an enchanter to a paladin. I loved my paladin back in the day. The only problem is that I forgot about the -40% xp penalty! And having a lame weapon makes it worse! Luckily someone gave me a 13/50 2HB but everyone in Butcherblock told me it sucks and I need to upgrade...

Suggestions on what a level 5 paladin can get?
