I was recently soloing Lguk on my enchanter. After killing some merbs, I had to swap around spells.

Now, as a clever player, I click the icon in spell book and then press Alt + # to mem it to the spell gem relative to the '#.' In his case, I usually mem gate to #8.

However, I pressed #9. Gate memmed. I could not remem it. Nor could I unmem it. I had memorized gate to a non-existent 9th spell gem.

I could even START casting, but it would autointerrupt after about half a second of cast time.

The only way to fix the problem was to throw myself into a horde of froglok ghouls and get gangbanged until the sins of my forefathers were erased as penance.

Yea I've run into this issue several times before. As you discovered, death is the only fix.

So sometimes it may be worth loading a level 1 junk buff in your 9th slot that prevents you from memming anything else to it.

Might be able to block memming in slot 9. I know we block casting.

If you mem it with the alt #, how do you unmem if its not visible?

I had to die to unmem it.

As far as I'm aware there is no key command to unmemorize a spell.

You can only memorize spells with Alt+# if you have the spell icon on your cursor, so that can't even be done without mouse.

Key binding Alt + 9 to something other than cast 9 will prevent this also.
