Alright, I will try to be as descriptive as possible. Everything worked fine earlier today (and for the past month.) Later this evening I go to log on and I freeze up after I pick my server and click play. The mouse isn't frozen or anything.. but all my buttons blank out and I stare/wait, but it never goes to load screen (or, ultimately, the character select.)
I am on a Mac. -- I did a complete reinstall....still the same issue stands. I turned off my firewall.. still the same issue. Any ideas?
--Thanks P99 Community

I'm not trolling here, but along with ^ above, I've installed P99 on another computer to hold me over until my main computer issue is resolved. I am having an issue. Are the current P99 files (v36) incorrect/corrupt? I can log on to other servers no problem, but I get "spell files need to be updated" crap at character selection screen for P99 servers. I'm going insane tonight with my horrid luck. Please help.

you got a lot of problems in these two posts haha, as far as the mac issues, its not my specialty. if you have a black screen and its not frozen, but you just don't see anything, sounds like a resolution issue. mess with your resolutions on your desktop. if its not resolutions, it could be a full screen / windowed mode issue.

i am sure the spell files are not corrupt. make sure you are installing/unzipping them into the main eq directory.

the game was working fine on my mac earlier today.. no changes were made to resolution/fullscreen. it isn't a black screen either. I am still looking at the server listings. i just click play or whatever to GET to the character screen and nothing happens other than my buttons all dim (as if it were about to start the loading screen, but it doesn't)

and the spell file issue: i have done the reinstall 4 times and carefully watched and placed the files all in the correct spot.. any other thoughts?

sorry, i read the problem wrong LOL.

i dont have an answer on the mac, sorry. I don't know the install process well enough to be able to troubleshoot it.

for the pc, is your virus protection blocking any of the files? try shutting any virus protection suites off or adding exceptions for the files in the ZIP. one of either the DLLs or the EXEs were being flagged as malicious.

nope, i turned mcafee off a long time ago. i wiped this computer a while back and rarely log on it because i have the new mac computer. no current active virus protection exists. I know the risks of not having one, i just never put one back on because im never on this computer. but, for the sake of wanting to play so badly, i am starting the DL and install/setup from scratch as we speak..I am going to try this all one more time. :\

Also having this problem, only installed yesterday but managed to get a cleric to level 3. Come to play this evening and crashes at server login.

yeah i still don't have it resolved.. and seems most people try to blame the issue on something i did, but i didn't change a thing from the time i was able to play, to the time i started having the issue. if you figure something out, let me know please, Meeas. I'm no IT, so i have no idea. I've already done a complete reinstall and still freezing at server login.

I had a windows update which required a computer restart. Restarted and seems to have fixed the problem, I'm at character select now :)

if you have the spell files installed and you are logging into the actual p99 servers, you should not be getting that "spell files is out of date" which makes me think you did something wrong without knowing it. Do you have more then one titanium instance installed? What are you using to launch EQ?

Thanks for the help here guys- i was able to launch p99 on my laptop. the issue was an outdated Mcafee supscription. i ended up just deleting mcafee all together. it was flagging my dsetup.dll file. >>I was noticing a lag when transferring dsetup.dll over from the updated p99 files, which set off a lightbulb in my head.<< Although, my MAC system still is hanging up. about to make a new thread about my MAC specifically speaking.
