View Full Version : An EverQuest poem, by me.

It started like a dream one day.
Our friends all gathered round.
We cooked up a new game to play.
The concept firm and sound.

We'd travel through the lands,
Making friends along the way.
Fighting vile fiends together,
Keeping Crushbone orcs at bay.
(p.s. That are sort of a bluish color mind you)

Then a strange thing happened.
Things weren't as fun as yesterday.
All my friends are missing.
Nobody with to play.

I'll fix this thing!
Said some dumb schmuck.
I'll get those players back!
A little this...
A little that...
I'll give this game a /smack!

The voices left cried out with dread,
Just bring the old ways back!
When finding corpses was a thing,
And bone chips were 20 in a stack!

But they're cries they went unheeded,
And with a maniacal glee,
They added more and more on top.
From sea to Darkened sea.

Terethian the High Elf cleric sighed and went back home.
Plenty of better things to do,
Like sit and study with my tome.

I must adieu, and say farwell with sadness I shall bow,
I could have made things better...

But you're in they're world now.

Well said, M.L.S.,

I felt the same way when I started playing EQ, then it started to go downhill with all the freaky expansions. Life brought me away from the game. Years later, when I felt a pang of nostalgia, I logged onto the monstrous hybrid freak that EQ has become on the live servers. Complaining in the chat channels about how it was all too easy and wasn't even the old game anymore, I was referred to this place.

R99 brings me back to those good old times.

Thanks staff! Pras the devs!

It's obviously impossible to make everyone happy when it comes to Everquest, certainly I concede that fact.

Further, it's actually easier to upset people by anything you do or change than to make people happy.

Regardless, I weep for what Everquest has become and I weep for what it could have been. I quit Everquest a long, long time ago. I just keep checking in, thinking, maybe this time things will be different. I am certain, I am not the only one that feels this way.

(This of course is not referencing p1999.)
Another thought of the day about EQ:

"I'd rather pay a monthly fee for GOOD Everquest than get BAD Everquest for free."
