I am a higher level caster main. I need to raise my defensive skill, without dying... tips appreciated!

What class? But really the only thing you can do is find a mob thats blue/light blue and let it beat on you.

I was hoping you wouldn't say that. Cleric.

The safest way I can think of is to duel a pet caster with a pet that is low blue to you. At least in this, he can be pulled back when you've had enough abuse.

I think you can get dodge up as a cleric easy but its risky. Load up divine barrier, pull a train run to the zoneline DB up and let them beat on you. Just zone out before it wears off I think you will still get your dodge skill up don't know about defensive skill.

That will get the defensive skill up too but IDK how reliable it is considering I have like 36 seconds of invuln per 10 minutes of downtime. I might get 1 skill up in that time. I was thinking about the caster pets too. Was wondering if there was anything we can give them to make them hit for less.

It doesn't need to be blue, can be high green as long as it gives exp.

Way back on live with my druid I'd find a blue con way out of the way and pull him to a hidden area and root him. Step in and when I needed to heal back away and heal up. Took a while but no deaths.

Team up with a friend that can heal you, and then fight light blue mobs with slow attack moves, just use the healer to heal you while you raise your stat. Then when it gets 150+ I would just join camping or leveling groups to raise it.

1. Gear youself to tank (AC+HP, fuck Wis) and group with a Rogue partner same level as you
2. Go someplace with a good supply of low blue mobs, melee mobs NOT casters
3. Load up Flash of Light, engage mob and use FoL to secure/hold agro, use Root to stop runners, embrace your inner Paladin!
4. ???
5. Profit!!! Skill-up while you're XP'ing (do humanoid mobs and the rogue can practice Pickpocket at same time)

Actually Wis is ok for faster skill-ups, it'll be lots higher than your Dex anyway I'm sure. Just don't sacrifice AC+HP since the idea is to survive the fights and heal in-between. If you can find a friendly Enchanter nearby to toss Clarity at you that helps as well since you get no med time while tanking. Cleric+Rogue duo is great for this and a lot of fun as well, just don't forget you're not a real tank so avoid high blue cons or you'll have a lot more downtime recovering.

My main is a Dwarf Cleric. I maxed out my defensive skills by fighting guards once I was a high enough level that they had just gone mixed blue/light blue (before that was removed). So I would fight one or more guards at once by a zone line. They pound on me; I heal myself, pop DA, pop DB, go oom then zone and watch a move, cook, clean, whatever while I med to full & rebuff. I can confirm defensive skills up while invulnerable.

It took a while, but if you don't have access to a pet class willing to duel you for many hours it's something you can do all day by yourself, or for 30-60 min here and there.

This is an exercise in learning to hate the RNG.:)

I took some time today to tank 3 mobs ( long med break in between ) and nuke them down when my mana was too low. I got 5 skill ups with the 3 mobs but it took like 30 minutes. They were high green ( light blue ). Will higher mobs skill me faster?

This sounds like a great idea.

Go to a zone your trains won't disrupt people trying to exp. You stay near the the zone-line, with both DA and DB ready. Ask a high-level player to pull a ton of mobs and when he's close to you you heal him. Before the train reaches you you activate DA, and before it runs out you zone to safety.

Rinse, repeat.
