Sick and tired of that punk Fredrick attacking me everytime I port into NK. Will slaughtering gnolls in Blackburrow do the trick or do I also need to do the Moonstones to raise Antonius Bayle.

i went to North Qeynos and the two entrance guards conned dubious, NK guards still threatening. Do I just need to kill more gnolls or is there a faction I'm missing.

Guard Gehnus in North Qeynos is on the same 3 factions according to the wiki but he cons dubious instead of threatening.

I'd question those factions, based on my DE enchanter's experience; I have handed in gnoll fangs, moonstones and bandit sashes until both sets of guards will ignore me, but I still need illusions not to get killed by Karana guards.

Yeah I'm wondering if these guys are just bugged or something since the faction work doesnt seem to change no matter what I do. Guess I'll just avoid NK until I level some more.

Well, Illusion: Human as a dark elf can take me from Threatening to Amiable, so I suspect that it's just an example of human racism. They might just be designed to really hate the evil races.

but can certain mobs of a faction be on a higher/lower standing? say in highkeep most guards are -1000 on faction but Captain Bosec is -1200. Is that possible?

According to the relevant section of the wiki (http://wiki.project1999.com/Game_Mechanics#Faction_System_and_Levels), zones may have a faction modifier. This means that guards in Qeynos might be set to be more friendly than those in the Karanas. I suppose it makes sense that open zones (where you can evade guards) will be less forgiving than those where you cannot escape them.
Same faction, different zone?

You may need to research this as I don't know the answer, but...
I do know with a lot of faction research on both this server and live the following information seems to apply.
Mobs have a "primary" faction. The faction hits you take from killing them does not mean that you are KOS to that NPC if you are KOS to any of those factions. You generally would be KOS only to the Primary faction.
On live... primary faction and largest faction hits are listed in order of display when you get a faction hit if there are multiples. On live in all my testing... the primary faction has been first one listed.
There may be a faction modifier for secondary factions... but I have yet to see much of any effect by them on the con of the NPCs.
It is possible that the primary faction for the NPC has been incorrectly selected, and the NPC is working on one of the other factions. A suggestion for example with your issue... Perhaps that guard has been set as Karana Residents as the primary faction.
If that was the case, then if your still KOS to karana residents, but only dubious to guards... all the other guards would not kill you, but that one would still.
There are a couple of NPCs in Firiona Vie that have the same issue, and are obviously not on the same Primary Faction as the rest.
If you have live characters high enough to kill the NPC giving you the problem, you can check the order of the factions to see what they should be on. You may find he's an odd ball and at least know what faction you need to fix, or you may find that the P99 servers still have a couple of minor faction bugs that need to be fixed.
Your going to need to collect the info though.

that guide says the zone modifier for faction is almost always zero.
Edit: thanks for the info Krey. I suppose I could install Live EQ and check it out. that or kill one of them and see. I killed him once, think it was antonius bayle listed as the first faction.

It has nothing to do with the zone modifier, but something doesn't look right, looking into it.
I'm guessing you follow Rallos Zek?

His primary faction is a little different, after looking at it everything looks good.

is it antonius bayle? or different in terms of a number value.

Thanks for looking into it Alunova. I was able to enter Qeynos without a problem due to some blackburrow killing last night. Then turned in about 25 gnoll fangs and that was enough to take me to dubious with Fredrick and the other NK guards. Will be nice to port into NK without getting attacked.

Isn't there a red wine quest in north qeynos? By the docks? Give that a shot
