Was just messing around in Unrest and found out about this quest for the Dread Forged Shield http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/quest.html?quest=671. For one part of the quest you give a Fire Beetle Eye to Khrix Fritchoff and he spawns a Khrixs Abomination in the room behind him. Everything seems to work except for the fact that the creature is indifferent to everyone when he should be "uncontrollable" according to Allahkazam and Khrix himself.
So this is what happens:
Hand Khrix Fritchoff a Fire Beetle Eye.
Khrix Fritchoff says, 'At last I may leave this place!! Good luck destroying my abomination, you will surely need it against my most powerful yet uncontrollable creation!'
Your faction standing with DarkReflection has gotten better!
Your faction standing with EldritchCollective has gotten worse!
Your faction standing with GemChoppers has gotten worse!
You gain party experience!!
You no longer have a target.
Khrixs Abomination regards you indifferently -- it appears to be quite formidable.
The abomination should be KOS to everyone, and apparently he was a pretty nasty disturbance back in the day according to the comments on his mob page. http://eqbeastiary.allakhazam.com/search.shtml?id=3782
Third post down (From oldest to newest) Someone posted this:
"Wow i can't believe the number of people who haven't seen this guy, i saw2 him 4 times in 1 day in unrest. he is a huge pain, most everyone in unrest was about lvl 19-24 so no one could solo him, he was running amuck so all of us in the cauldron desided to bum rush him and he dropped without a casualty. There was about 20 of us. hehe"
About a third of the way down (From oldest to newest) Ulerr posted this:
"The abomination is always lvl 38, looks like a ghoul and spawns immediately when you give a fire beetle eye to krixis who is hiding in a closet between the magi room and the priest spawn, the abomination has a good aggro range and will attack ppl in the magi room or the barkeep and kick there ass pretty quick, he doubles for a max of 89 a swing and bashes for 21 I think..."
So yeah... not so "uncontrollable."
Not sure if this was coded intentionally since I can see the potential for griefing, but Khrixs Abomination had quite the reputation back in the day so I thought that I would point it out.
