So its been over a decade since I've used internet explorer, I've been using google chrome since then and have been mostly happy with the layout. I was curious if Internet Explorer is now up to snuff on most websites loading speed, and overall performance on most websites? Is anyone using this stuff or is it still the redheaded stepchild of the browser world?

No, and you shouldn't be using it. If you have to use a MS product, use Spartan, MS's new ground-up browser when it comes out in Windows 10.

iirc IE is the most failed browser in terms of security

Internet Explorer comes with Windows - that means it's the best one right?

People who use AOL use MSIE, but only when they buy a new Packard Bell and can't find their Netscape Navigator discs.

Firefox still better than Chrome, people need to get away from Google.

i switched from Firefox to Chrome last year. I like the syncing that chrome has compared to what firefox offered due to using 3-4 different computers regularly. Dont get me started on IE though or as Lem said AOL for that matter. My boss still insists on using AOL and even the actual app and not just mail.aol.com even though he does nothing but check his email on the damn program. So every few months he bring me his laptop and PC to clean and everytime i try and get him to remove aol but he doesnt. :(

I don't have anything vs IE personally. Many people echo shit they heard 10 years ago when they tell you not to use it. Fact is all browsers suck without the right plugins.

Also I have noticed google websites (google, youtube, etc.) started being super slow in IE about a year ago, probably they are trying to push their terrible browser.

If you read objective tests there isn't really a clear winner for best browser, IE does use much less memory when you don't run more than 3 or so tabs, chrome is better for 3 or more tabs on memory use

It all boils down to IE being available on every windows PC. Why download additional software when you can just use the built in one

I don't know if IE has caught up and frankly I don't care.. I like my ad block (disabled for P99) and other addons - IE had none of that and until there's something really next level I'm good with ole pal Firefox, though I know Chrome has as many addons :)

The truth is the security differences between the big three browsers are trivial, and most security problems are user problems. IE has improved quite a bit over the past several years, but I'm happy with FF.

If you like Mozilla, should try Seamonkey. I've used it for a few years and it feels like old firefox.. fast, and not bloated.

The biggest (outdated) rumors

IE sux because it doesn't have AdBlockPlus (hasn't been true for a few years)
IE is the slowest browser (hasn't been true for a decade)
IE is not secure (hasn't been true for a decade)

along with

Google is the best Search page (yeah right)

IE blows because it still doesn't recognize most of the most commonly used CSS3 selectors.

Chrome, Opera, Firefox, Safari are all better.

If you want to test something new, ex-Opera CEO is putting out Vivaldi (https://vivaldi.com/), which is a browser built with node.js

Pretty sure IE had some security issues as of last year even. Yes IE does have Adblock plus now and isnt as slow but i still dont trust IE.

Still use Firefox because Chrome does not care about privacy.

Can't go wrong with chrome really. My company still has IE on every work computer and I think it blows.

i personally wouldn't trust a search engine company to be my browser and internet provider when their business model is gathering big data about you and then targeting ads around your interests

ever wondered why google wants in on the internet provider scene so much? yeah sure they want you to have gigabit for streaming content, but the underlying reason is no matter what search engine you use, if you have google are your provider they can still gather data what you search for and target ads your way. they provide the pipe you look through, there's no way around them then except encrypting all the traffic, which many politicans in america are lobbyquesting to become illegal.

firefox is the way to go, its not as fast but has more plugins and better features, internet explorer is terrible still

I would care more if i didnt completely ignore any adverising. I could give a shit about lumped demographic data. Its not like they will try to sell me porn.

Right. I don't trust Google not to be building a profile of me to sell on someday lol.

Opening a gmail account pretty much requires your phone number now, for "your security" of course... lawl

They're trying to make VPNs illegal? Care to share a link?

firefox was bloated/memleaked to shit at the time chrome came out, I swore it off as a primary browser back then. Has there been any change in this area?

I install Internet and phone in people's homes, and you would be fucking horrified to find out how many people still use both IE and Aol. Like not aol.com..but actual fucking aol..it's disguesting. And IE is the biggest heap of shit, so flawed and disfunctional. Because of all the people calling repairs for it, it's probably the number 1 reason my company is able to have such a strange hold on the buissness with those visit charges alone lol. chances are if your over 45, you use IE/Aol and are paying a repair for something as stupid as your homepage being changed or IE having script errors...thank-you for the paycheck.
