See the guy who started this thread for example. My first GF, which I met online (never did that happen again!) who came from a mentally unstable family had an older brother who was suicidal and had a wide range of mental and social issues. She tried to get him to play WoW and his version of playing wow was sitting in lower level open pvp zones killing random mobs until players showed up and proceeded with ganking them over and over.
Now it was no secret he had major inadequacies in his life, which he tried to make up for in game because he was a loser that no one liked and the world frequently shat on him because of how he treated other people.
The guy defending people that need to twink out characters in BIS dropables, which they cannot attain at that level range for the characters they are twinking, with OOR healers/buffers to shit on new people in rags is most likely one of those losers who face inadequacies in real life.
Perhaps it is because the OP has some inadequacies of his own IRL, such as the lack of hair on his scalp?
TLDR: People that feel the need to constantly shit on players who have a massive gear/item/level disadvantage have mental issues, because this isn't actual PVP.

Do people have meaningful fights over PVE content closer to 60? Coming from Eve the PVP here seems pointless, and compared to WoW it's much less fluid due to ooc recovery. I guess it's still a step up from GM enforced camps and wait-lists - seriously wtf?
The only PVP I've seen is the aforementioned fungii, which certainly qualifies as griefing if not also PVP.

Not really. Sometimes people rally to gank a group in seb/hs but not because they actually want to take over their camp. Most pvp tend to occur around kc/dl zoneline but it's not over any content.
Though I have to say I haven't really played in the past year but I can't imagine much has changed.

Immoral is fine, but rational would be nice; I like my game theory.
Baugi, after lvl 40 or so it changes a bit, you get to fight other grps for camps on occassion, those fungi twinks are still pretty powerful but in this malo/tash era they are not nearly the threat they used to be.
Sometimes if you're really lucky you might get a legit camp fight in MM but it's rare and any YT goin of there or in lfay will summon the knights templar. It's a mix bag, somedays in Suave we run em out, sometimes they get us. Just gotta roll with it.
There is something to be said about server/eq knowledge though. If you know how to fish, you'll catch em. I get a lot of tells on Romeo from other wizards asking how I get so many kills, it's pretty simple, you just have to know what the players in your range are likely to do. Know the hotspots and put in the time, teach a man to fish ect. ect.

At higher levels its more of a skirmish that breaks out in certain PVP hot spots.
You can certainly take over camps but it requires a degree of patience, as most people will log their character out in between respawns. An example is the EoE camp in Droga.
PVP also happens over the fabled Sea Fury Cash Cows in OOT.
MASS PVP over raid objectives have not really happened in a while. These were more prevalent due to a shift in paradigm or guild power. Think of it as voting, when a president has been involved in a scandal, they will put another leader up for election. Unfortunately Azrael have not elected a new leader and are a largely unpopular guild for that reason.

Oh yes, because I want pvp players on a pvp server, I must have a low IQ.....durr.... Actually we get a HUGE influx of players, some from blue, some from other servers and some brand new eq players. A high % of them are going to leave, whether it is after their first death to a fungi twink in crushbone, or when they hit around 50 and the xp starts slowing down. Those people I don't really care about, it's the players that are going to stick around regardless of the fact they died a few times on a PVP server. And the main reason those players stick around is that they aren't bluebies at heart, and actually believe in PVP.
So when I see people raging over a fungi twink killing them in unrest, I don't have much sympathy. I take my licks just like everyone else, it's a pvp server, justdealwithit.gif

So you're hoping they grow up into easy/compliant kills? I hate to burst your bubble but Stockholm syndrome is pretty rare. The people who stick around will tend to avoid PVP as well as player cooperation, which isn't particularly healthy for the server.
Things might be different without global shaming; shit ain't even classic.

Can't fight level 60's, confirmed will still get ass kicked by lvl 30's willing to fight back, regardless of your fungi.
<3 fungi twinks. Love to humble them and rub their face in the dirt when you show them how shitty they truly re by killing them... with no fungi, or good gear. Honestly, I'm going to be farming and handing out Nathsar Greatswords and other solid performing low lvl weapons just to rewards newbs willing to fight back against twinks.
Honestly, your biggest threat before lvl 40, pvp wise, is fungi twink melee characters. And the best defense against them is a strong offense. You don't need actual pvp gear to fight them, resists don't matter, and they usually have crap resist themselves. Bakingsoda eats fire nukes like nobody's business. What they have is strong offense with twink weaps and mad hp regen.
Regardless of all of that though, agree with OP 100%. Even if a twink kills you and moves on that isn't griefing. Griefing is twinks logging in once an hour to full clear 6-12 people form an XP zone, demand they call LnS, and not leave the zone until everyone has fled or logged off. That's pointless... come in, giv ehtem a taste of PVP, and leave. LnS from what? you aren't there to xp or take a camp therefore you can't demand LnS be called by them. All PVP does not constitue LnS. All PVP is not griefing.
It's ironic though people call me a griefer or PK'er when I am a newb in self looted gear and rags with not very many kills to my name. It's a PVP server.. I came to fight other players. If you don't like a fair fight at lvl 30, WTF do you think you're going to do when you XP up to 50 and have to face raid geared guys that roll 3-6+ deep at all times for their PVP action lol.... pointless to level up here if you don't like PVP
tl:dr Don't level on a PVP server if you don't want to PVP. Don't expect not to be killed. Be willing to kill, or you will die.
And if you don't like to PVP, according to Holocaust you can just roll a bard and swarm kite and no one can stun/snare/root you because that's griefing, so Bards get free pass to lvl 60 with no PVP interruption, according to <Holocaust>

When playing a game of Prisoner's Gambit with memory; the most consistent strategy for long term success is to co-operate until betrayed. Once a person betrays you, you betray them for all subsequent games. Adding forgiveness to the strategy is something I consider a matter of personal taste.
Don't confuse applying this strategy to PvP in an MMO as being a naive Bluebie.

You are presented with two options before you click "Join Server."
1: Project 1999
2: Project 1999 Red
Making the second choice implies certain risks.
Any whining past that point shall be reciprocated with my eyes making a 180 degree arc.
Honestly OP, what did these people think was going to happen? It's beyond me.

the problem with low-lvl pvp on this server (imo, newb here) is that no one steps in to stop the twinks from endlessly killing the same grp over and over until plugs happen. what we need is a guild dedicated to keeping the peace.
