Even small crew fights usually end in plugs, only pvp people ready to die in is over raid targets and that's just because of the risk vs reward, not much reward left for az core which is why raiding mostly uncontested

Larger zones in vel should make pvp fun again but until they fix plugging if the leaderboard is why you play whatever keeps you on

I actually agree with everything you said, but I blame large guilds like Nihilum and Holocaust for that, they make a sanctuary for blue players and reward them with the only thing they desire...easy pixels.

If Nihilum or Holocaust had a system in place that rewarded for PvP instead of just raid attendance it would promote a red environment, and encourage more old players from Rallos/Sullon/VZ/TZ to start back up here.

But the majority of players here wish to avoid PvP at all costs only logging in for raid day, then switching to their next toon to gear up the rest of the week.

I'd absolutely love a system where you could earn gear though PVP. The devnoob/image boxes have it and people pretty much PVP 90% of the time they spend online.

The problem is a guild can PVP its ass off all week and then lose and repop day to a raid force 60 deep and have 0 pixels to award members for their PVPing. Unless the rewards themselves are derived DIRECTLY from PVP you'll always have a Holo/Nihilum/etc.

I really don't want to get into the whole Hate, ToW, SZ, etc discussion. I remember things quite a bit differently then you and we've been through that.

And ideally a highly skilled group of 15-20 could take down a 60 man force of bad players, so why has it never happened on this server on a consistent basis?

Because either the game favors numbers so far above skill that you can't overcome it or the players in the 60 man force aren't as bad as you think. Probably a combination of both.

And it only gets worse in Velious unfortunately.

The best way things could happen on this server is classic/kunark era RZ where there were no huge guilds, just groups of smaller guilds allying with one and other to kill shit. At least then you'd have some drama.

All the reds would prefer training be legal, we'd actually prefer no rules whatsoever and let players skill determine the winner, instead of GM's slapping training wheels on everyone and protecting warm bodies from YT.

There was only 1 PVP server that allowed training, and that server had the least competition at the end game of all of them. There was literally only a single guild that could even ZONE IN to half of the raid zones because of training. That allowed them such a retarded gear advantage that PVP became a joke.

SZ was a failed experiment in every sense. There is a reason everything to do with it was thrown out in the eventual PVP server merge. I still had a blast playing there, but that's EverQuest.
