View Full Version : High Elf Cleric Question....

So... I put all my points in to WIS on my shiny new High Elf Cleric. My guy needs to get to the gym or something. I have 3 back packs and mostly leather with few pieces of bronze/banded. Guess what? I am almost encumbered with no loot. This has not been a problem for me yet, but looking at my weight bothers me.

I always played a race/class combo with STR before... Does anyone have any advice on what i should be doing?

Sell often?
Save and buy some str jewelry or gear at expense to mana/wis (which always seems oom or lom)?
Trade off ac for lighter gear?

Well, the one thing you should ask yourself, did you choose a High Elf because you like the way the class looks, or did you choose it because it's the best one for the class.

If you ask me, I see more people going with Dwarfs because they have a bit higher initial STR, with a bit less lower WIS. Yet they make out just as well as a High Elf, from what I've noticed.

Make sure you're not carrying a lot of coin.

To be honest I would have rather played a human cleric. However thinking about what would better serve a group (and never playing a preist class before) I thought.. well larger mana pool should trump my aesthic desires...

What I didn't remember is how heavy lowbie non magical gear is and since I don't want to re-roll I am where I am I guess..

I am watching coin. I have very few pp to matter :) I probably could use a macro for copper deleting though :)

Use Large Sewing Kits instead of backpacks. Get Runed Mithril Bracers as soon as you can. Once you level up some more, you can channel Yaulp while running...

A lot of what Kizzik said, will help out a lot. If you aren't keen on re-rolling, I understand, though the starting cities of both are just a zone away.

Honestly, I'd say get a trusted EQ player, and swap items.

Completely forgot about the sewing kits!

talking about sewing kits, is it possible in P99 to hit combine by mistake and lose all the items in the kit getting the message "these items do not combine to create anything!" ( or some such)?

Go for Ruby jewelry down the line. Adds wis and strength.

And don't forget that at earlier levels +mana is way better for you than +wis. So don't gimp yourself too hard going for wisdom items early on. There's no shame in wearing some strength items (which are quite easy to obtain and cheap).

Moonstone Rings are great and pretty cheap, as well.

The won't poof if they do not combine to make something 9thank goodness). I too use sewing kits for me weaker characters.

Yes, these would actually be perfect for him!

Large sewing kits, 7str/7intel neck for times when you GOTTA move (like running across zones), hero bracer http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=3736 and grin and bear it mostly. It's a trade off, better ac on plate vs better weight on leather/cloth items.

Swap now if you can to another class/sex cleric combo.

High Elf males are easily the ugliest summunabiches in the game. Yellow arms, patchwork legs, silly backwards batting helmet cap.. It's a complete nightmare.

Without your vanity, you have nothing. I know *you* don't have to look at your toon, but the rest of us do. Do it for the rest of us.

Don't diss the batwings and Princess Leia helmets, you KNOW we look sexy when we're all purpled out. Better than a damn dwarven grape anyway.

Heh i played a male HIE cleric on live, and if I stop one poor soul from months of suffering and self-consciousness, i'd consider it a moral victory. :)

If you're going for gusto, it's hard to beat Erudite.
