First Part of Shaman Epic

Wondering if I can complete enough of Shaman epic to get the shield at 35 solo. Seems the only really sketchy part is the part in Erud's crossing. Will I get owned by sharks or is it not too bad if you invis and keep your eyes open?

one killer shark swamp awfully close but never agroed me or pet. i didnt have to kill a single mob. just make sure you bring fish scales (i didnt) and ended up spending an hour fishing to get some because I had already bound there and didnt want to run back. i only fished one and thought that would be enough, NOPE. I had to swim up and down for air for the last 2 parts of the waiting game. sucked. just bind there and know how to use /loc.

Thanks for the helpful feedback! Why do you recommend binding there? Is that in case you die so you can try to make it back in time for the next npc?

ya bascially. i mean that is one hell of a CR if you die. some of the killer sharks conned dark blue at 46 so it is definitely risky at lvl 35 to be swimming those waters unbound. oh and i think some of the wait times on the wiki are off by a few minutes. just wait it out.

I don't remember when I did this exactly, but it was somewhere around 35, and I had no problem with the shark. I did die once, but that was because I AFKed while I was waiting and my enduring breath wore out :-)

The shield was a success! For anyone else that is wondering or sees this, at 35 I did it and never saw a killer shark. A lot of green con sharks came close by, but I kept invis when I wasn't talking to npc's and had no problems.

Now, if I want to repeat parts of the quest until the spirit in WK or EJ or wherever cons kindly so that I can do CoM turn ins? Is kindly the right target to reach for?

Also, after handing in the stuff for shield the spirit wandered away before I could get him to give me the gem. Just did another turn in and had the same thing happen. Anyone else have this problem?

EDIT: Just chased him around for a while saying "what last path" and eventually he gave me the gem. Not sure why I was having issues with it.

yeah that spirit runs fast and a few seconds after a hail he takes off. Got to be quick with him.

do it properly till you get the boots. thinki got mine at L38.

blackdire is tuff without full grp of 40+ if you add in couple of peeps lvl 50 its pretty smooth......just make sure you split the wolves. Think we killed them first, then spawned him, was a while ago )

If you know a level 60, they can pull Black Dire single by casting whatever up to the ledge at CE. No annoying adds that way and you can chip in little patch heals without getting munched.

You can do the Erud's Crossing part (The Test of Patience) without being attacked at level 35. When I did it, the sharks did not swim within agro range. They were around, but not close enough to cause worry. To be sure, I invis'd while waiting for quest mobs. Just be sure to drop invis when hailing/talking to the quest mobs or they will not talk back. All I needed was 3 fish scales to do the entire Test of Patience.

Also, change camera modes while you're waiting underwater for quest mobs to spawn. Sometimes you can't see them in first-person mode, or you drift away slightly from the spot. Zooming out in 3rd person view also enables you to see if any sharks are swimming too close for comfort.

Just maxed faction. Did epic to woe and envy and got shield. Then did Bodi in Freeport 3 times. Then repeated the woe/envy turn in 22 times and maxed faction. Never went EJ or to COM.

That's at least 44 hours of work eh.

It took me about 2 nights to gather enough turn ins in CoM (while exping) to max my faction.

How is that 44 hours of work? Its a 2-hour spawn, takes 10-mins to kill both NPC's and less than 15-mins to run to WK - gate back spend the next 90-mins killing giants for plat and exp. Plus got 3 belt drops selling for 1200 each.

If he did 22 Woe/Envy turn ins, and 2 hour respawn - that's at least 44 hours of time he waited. Obviously you can do other things in between.

I'm just talking pure speed of getting faction, CoM is going to be way faster than Woe/Envy turn ins.

Confirm that the wait times on the wiki are slightly off. Overall, expect to spend just under a hour undertaking the Test of Patience. I did this at 40, only saw one yellow con Killer Shark, but it was far enough to have no agro.
Also, I used Invis Vs Animals- so I didn't have to drop invis to interact with the NPC's out of boredom.

Who said I was in a hurry? Also I soloed in CoM, not grouped - just killed stuff around entrance/courtyard from 38-42ish and looted pages I got or other's ooc'd.

I was just outlining the more time efficient way for those who'd like to take it. If you want to do it with Woe/Envy more power to you.
